Get Maximum Exposure for Your Content through Syndication
Syndication is the act of creating something once and then having it automatically broadcast all over the place. The whole idea is that you want to get maximum exposure for the least amount of work.
Newspapers do this with popular columnists and comic strips, radio does this with well known radio programs and personalities, and you can do this with your blog posts, emails, and articles.
For example, when I update my real estate blog a snippet of what I’ve written automatically appears on my Facebook profile and my LinkedIn profile where people can click on it to read more.
When I send out an email to any of my list or write an article for EzineArticles.com, a small note is sent to my Twitter account so people can read what I’ve sent out. My twitter account then automatically posts a note on my Facebook profile and people can see it there too.
These things are done with applications that are offered through the various web sites you have a membership to that will syndicate the material.
EzineArticles and Aweber (my email manager) will ask you, when you’re about to publish something, if you have a Twitter login that you’d like to send a note to. From that point, Facebook has a number of applications you can use to do all sorts of things, including automatically pull your Tweets into your Facebook account and publish them on your wall.
Facebook can also publish your blog posts to your wall automatically. Take a look at http://www.facebook.com/apps for a full list of applications. I use one called “Simplaris Blogcast” that works well, and the Twitter application is just called “Twitter”.
LinkedIn has a similar list of applications. LinkedIn has a much tighter reign on 3rd party applications for their system, and consequently they don’t have nearly as many applications as Facebook has (but they also don’t experience nearly as many glitches either). Just scroll down your LinkedIn profile and look for the “Applications” section.
