LJUBLJANA – The player of the day on Wednesday at the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A came from Japan. Shuhei Kuji almost singlehandedly led his team to a surprise victory against Austria.

LJUBLJANA – In a highly anticipated neighbouring clash Slovenia defeated Hungary 4-1 to take over first place in the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A after three games.

KRYNICA – Poland and Korea are still unbeaten while a reinforced Lithuania won a hard-fought game during the third round of the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships Division I Group B. Romania and Australia are still winless.
Hartley’s team claims championship with two seconds left in game 7

BERNE – In an attendance record-setting final series the ZSC Lions Zurich claimed the Swiss championship winning game seven at SC Bern 2-1. Steve McCarthy scored the game winner with two seconds left in regulation time of the seventh game.
LJUBLJANA – Japan celebrated its first win against Austria in 33 years, defeating the favourite 4-3 in shootout thanks to a hat trick from Shuhei Kuji. Great Britain edged Ukraine 4-3 in overtime, causing another surprise in the early game.
David Quinn joins head coach Scott Gordon at Worlds
COLORADO SPRINGS, USA – David Quinn has been named an assistant coach for the U.S. Men's National Team at the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Finland and Sweden.
PIESTANY, Slovakia – For the first time since the U18 World Championship was launched in 1999, Slovakia had to play in the second tier. They did so with a 30-6 goal record and five wins in as many games.
U18 Div. IB: Wins promotion on final day in close game
SZEKESFEHERVAR, Hungary – Belarus gained promotion to Division IA after winning the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division I Group B thanks to a 6-5 victory on the final day over Kazakhstan.
