Adobe recommends that you install the latest updates to take advantage of improved functionality and to safeguard your system against malicious attacks through PDFs. However, you can disable updates or choose to manually install them if you prefer not to have them installed automatically. The settings vary depending on the application version.

- Choose one of the following adjustments to the default schedule:
- To completely disable automatic checking, deselect the option "Automatically check for Adobe updates."
Important: This action disables automatic update checking for ALL of your Adobe products. - To decrease the frequency of automatic checking, leave the option "Automatically check for Adobe updates" selected. Choose Every Month from the menu. You can control updates even further by selecting the option "Ask me before downloading any updates..." so that files are not downloaded to your computer.
- To completely disable automatic checking, deselect the option "Automatically check for Adobe updates."
