Since the new versions of Winamp keep being released all the time, it is hard to write a review about each one, but let’s just say this is a review about Winamp 5, and one of the versions 5.6. There are many positive comments from the users and the rating of this media player is somewhere between 90 and 95% which is amazing. It is hard to find an application, program or software of any kind with such high rating, and it is no wonder considering all the things it has to offer.

Let’s just mention some of the pros and cons of this version of Winamp. It supports player syncing with iPod and regular music players, you can read the artist information, his biography and check some of the pics as well, but that is not all. There are some videos which are built in the player. You can find new interface which is skinnable and don’t forget about the desktop alerts when it comes to the changing of the songs in the list. That way you can always see which song you are going to listen to next.

There are few cons as well, such as memory hog. There are too many versions to choose from, even though this doesn’t necessarily needs to be a con, but for a regular user, who is not that interesting in this, it may look a little bit too much… Also, you will be able to find many key features, such as full speed burning of a CD, CD ripping… If you want the full speed, you will have to pay for that about 20 dollars.

The conclusion would be something like this… Winamp 5 has to offer a lot, and some would say too much, but you can always go back to the roots and use only those features you like, which means that you can make Winamp look simply, and that is what you need if you just want to listen to the music. This is one of the versions in which that huge black Winamp got released for the first time. Some like it, some don’t, but the fact is that when you choose the full screen mode, and you have a big screen, it definitely looks nice, especially when you have to chance to look at the playlist and all the features at the same time.

All in all, if you love new things, features, options, you are going to love this version of Winamp but for those who prefer old school, it may be a little bit too much for their taste. Still, they can always switch to the Classic skin with good old green letters and a black background. At the same time, you can always use some of the features, and make your Winamp doesn’t even look like it is the version 5 of this amazing media player.
