Hi Every body,  12/18/10

Well its been an amazing Holiday season. I played on Alcatraz Island on Indigenous Peoples day as well as on Thanksgiving. Both were sunrise ceremonies and I was honored to play for all my relatives and friends. Its times like these that remind how grateful I am to be Native and to be apart of such a wonderful community of Elders, Activists, free thinkers, ect, ect. Only in the Bay will you find so many spiritual warriors gathered in the same place all at the same time. Ive also been busy trying to record a new CD. I am once again in the cave of metamorphosis with producer Greg Landau. As usual on a shoe string budget but Im hopeful we can get something done for a possible Feb release. I may be releasing an EP for now, or just digitally. Anyway January 7 I will performing with a full band at the Abergine in Petaluma. And then again on Feb 8 at Yoshis Lounge in San Francisco. Check the shows Calendar for details. Oh yea almost forgot. I was also a feyeaured performer at the American Indian Film Festival this year. My Music Video for "Shine on Me" was shown and I also played on the Awards night. What a great experience, So thanks to the film festival organizers Mike and Mytia Smith. Most recently on Dec 15th I performed at La Pena Cultural Center as a benefit for the American Indian Treaty Council.  From listening to all the speakers, I was really struck with the reality that my music and my life has been shaped in so many ways by the people who came before me. My Elders who have worked so tirelessly towards the goal of the basic human rights that we all deserve and protecting the rights of our Mother Earth.

Happy Holidays Everyone !

See you at the Show !

OK OK where to start ! Been a minute since I updated my page, so I apologize for that. Anyway I just got home from a way exellent trip to Ft. Duchesne Utah. I was honored to play at the Northern Ute tribe summer Jam festival! I met a bunch of really cool folks, and we all came together to play music and encourage all the youth towards sobriety and healthy living. Its so good to be able to play music and be apart of a positive message. We all could use more of that in our lives. So a Big Thank You to my good Brother and Friend Anthony Guzman for asking me to come out and to everyone at the recovery facility there in Ft. Duchesne. I go to share the stage with some other really exellent musicians, Casper, Signal 99, and the Mindless. If you ever get to check any of them out dont miss it. Our Native people can PLAY ! For reelz. Anyway I am making an attempt to begin preproduction for a new record. No promises on the release date except to say I will do my best. Until then keep on the look out for shows in and around the Bay Area. Ill have them posted on the sight as they come up. Check out my new videos on youtube of my appearance on Native Voice TV if you havent already. Much love to everyone who has been making it to our shows and thanks to all of you who write me and express your appreciation for the music.

Peace
Jeremy

New Video for Shine on Me is posted up above ! Please take a moment to read the meaning of the Lyrics and video Below.

"Shine on me" is a song written to the Creator. Many times in my life I have had hard times and never did I find any lasting comfort or happiness until I turned to the Creator. I think that this experience is not unique. This is a song of gratitude, devotion, and hope. There is no problem , sadness, anger or sickness that the Creator can not solve. That is my experience

The video has certain elements I would like to explain. Because I have had my own experience with alcohol/ and drug addiction. I chose to represent this by filming homeless people. This is not to say that all homeless are alcoholic and drug addicts but studies show that the majority of them are.I also think that the great majority a people suffer from depression ,anxiety and a general feeling of disconnectedness in some form. Positive elements like nature and people smiling , doing yoga and the positive spiritual imagery of the many beautiful murals around San Francisco represent a deeper underlying truth. That we are spiritual beings and we need to be connected with nature, one another, and the Creator in order for us to be happy. The meditating homeless person (Played by my good friend/brother Tonus Atkins) represents the peace we can have if we turn toward Spirit, no matter what our outer experience may be we can find inner peace. The Luchador (Mexican Wrestler, played by another friend/brother Tommy Barron ) who is taunting him represents the spirit of doubt that is always trying to Create separation. Some cultures refer to this as the ego, or thinking mind. In Native culture we refer to it in many different ways. Many tribes have a Creation story that has talks about Twins. One positive, one negative. In many ceremonies this spirit is acknowledged and symbolized as a disruptive element that is literally included into the ceremony on purpose. Its my belief that this is "bad spirit" is not external but internal and that we must make an effort to think and act positive in order to have peace.

This Video was shot on location in San Francisco by Nicole Landau, Thank you to Peter Bratt and Five Stick Films for contributing the stock footage, and to the San Francisco Arts Commission, Cultural equity grants for funding the video.

Peace

Jeremy
