We’re redefining Sunday Funday in this special spring roller derby bout, Skatin’ Fast, Turnin’ Left on April 1.

Charleston’s very own Lowcountry Higrhollers All-Stars hope to keep their undefeated status when they take on the Tallahassee Rollergirls from Florida at 1 p.m.  It all happens at The Citadel‘s McAlister Field House, 171 Moultrie St. in downtown Charleston. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.

We’ll have beer and music, plus fun for the kids all day and great raffle prizes. Check out our belly-dancing halftime show, and keep partying after the final whistle at The Royal American, 970 Morrison Drive downtown.

Bout admission is $10 in advance and $14 at the door. Children 10 and younger get in free. A portion of proceeds will benefit Girls Rock Charleston, a music arts camp for Charleston County girls.

Four Leaf Clobber – 3/10/12

Feeling lucky? We sure are! Just a week before St. Patty’s Day, the Lowcountry Highrollers bring you Four Leaf Clobber, featuring the LCHR All-Stars in a rematch against the Classic City Rollergirls from Athens, GA and the Bruisin’ Betties  taking on the  Gate City Roller Girls from Greensboro, NC for the first time!

Doors open at 4:00PM, and the first whistle blows at 4:30PM with the Bruisin’ Betties facing off with the ladies of Gate City. The LCHR All-Stars will go skate to skate with the Classic City Rollergirls at 6:00PM.

Highroller bouts are always family friendly, with kids’ activities and the favorite “push a roller girl” at halftime. For the “big kids,” beer and wine are available, plus all the hard-hitting derby action you can handle.

Our featured charity for this bout is the Charleston chapter of Greyhound Pets of America. This volunteer-run non-profit organization is dedicated to finding caring, permanent homes for retired racing greyhounds. Check out our fantastic raffle prizes, and help out this great cause and lucky dogs!

The party keeps going after the final whistle blows, so follow us to our afterparty at the Music Farm located at 32 Ann Street downtown!

Derby Love – A Roller Derby-Inspired Art Show

Roller derby, photography, music, and chocolate will all come together for one big night at Derby Love!

BadJon and Jericho Advisors present this roller derby themed art show, showcasing action shots and themed portrait photos by BadJon, chocolates by Sweeteeth, and sass provided by the Lowcountry Highrollers.

BadJon will be shooting in a “derby love” photobooth, where you can get roughed up by your favorite roller girls. Sweeteeth Chocolates will also be on hand for you to sample their great chocolates and creations (everything is fantastic), and DJ Cassidy will be rocking dance tunes all night. Refreshments and pizza will be provided by D’Allesandro’s Pizza.

We’re closing down a block of Saint Phillip Street for the party, so bring your chosen (non-motorized) wheels and roll around with the Highrollers. We will also have derby street races to fire up your competitive spirit.

This will be a Lowcountry Highrollers 2012 season opening party, and we will have merch available so you can get your gear ready for the start of the upcoming season. BadJon will have his iconic shirts for sale, as well as prints of his amazing derby photography.

Admission to the party is free, and all ages are welcome! It all goes down on Friday, February 10th from 5:00PM -9:30PM at Jericho Advisors, located downtown at 218 Saint Phillip Street.

Highrollers and Hockey

The Lowcountry Highrollers and the South Carolina Stingrays have teamed up to bring you a great deal on roller derby AND ice hockey!

The J-Block combo package includes one upper level ticket to the Stingrays’ Pink in the Rink on February 25th and one general admission ticket to the Highrollers’ Militia of Love season opener on February 18th. You get this great deal for just $25!

For an extra $5, you can also step it up to the Crosscheck combo package that includes one lower level ticket to Pink in the Rink, a Stingrays hat and one general admission ticket to Militia of Love.

Five dollars from every combo package sold will benefit the Susan G. Komen Lowcountry!

2012 Season Tickets Now Available!

Our 2012 season is going to be the biggest, baddest, most rockin’-est Highroller season yet! We were accepted as a full WFTDA league in December 2011, and we can’t wait to go out and prove ourselves as the newest members of the East Region.

The bouts will be knock-down, drag-out fights to the finish, and you won’t want to miss a minute! We are offering season tickets that will get you into our six home games this season at a discount price!

General admission season tickets are $50 each, which saves you $10 off advance tickets or $34 off door tickets. We also offer VIP season tickets for $200, which saves you $40 off individual VIP admission. Our VIP lounge includes exclusive club-level seating, food provided by the Barbeque Joint, and beverages from Red Stripe Lager, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and Firefly Vodka.

Militia of Love – 2/18/12

The Lowcountry Highrollers are back!

Our exciting 2012 season kicks off with MILITIA OF LOVE, featuring the LCHR All-Stars and Bruisin’ Betties in a rematch against the Charlotte Roller Girls All-Stars and B Dazzlers! Doors open at 4:00PM, and the first whistle blows at 4:30PM as the Bruisin’ Betties take on the B Dazzlers. The Betties were edged out by the B Dazz in both meetings last year, and they are out for a little payback! The LCHR All-Stars will go skate to skate with the Charlotte All-Stars at 6:00PM. Both leagues earned their acceptance into the WFTDA East Region last season, so the stakes are even higher in this bout as the outcome will count towards the teams’ rankings.

Highroller bouts are always family friendly, with kids’ activities and the favorite “push a roller girl” at halftime. For the “big kids,” beer and wine are available, plus all the hard-hitting derby action you can handle! Halftime entertainment will be provided by the lovely ladies of Homespun Hoops.

Our featured charity for this bout is We Are Family, a local organization who provides direct support and resources that have a lasting and measurable impact for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex (GLBTQQI) and straight ally youth ages 16-23 in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester Counties. Check out our great raffle prizes, and help out this great cause!

Black vs Pink Scrimmage – 2/4/12

It’s been a long three months since the last whistle blew at our State Championships bout in November.  The first bout of our 2012 season is February 18th, but we’re giving you a little sneak preview with our Black vs. Pink fundraiser scrimmage on Saturday, February 4th!

The Highrollers will be divided into two squads
and the battle is on from 5-7PM at Hot Wheels Skating Center, the Lowcountry Highrollers’ home base and practice facility.

You’ll see your favorite Highrollers back in action, plus get a chance check out our 2011 freshmeat class!

Admission is for adults is $15, kids ages 11-15 are $7, and kids 10 and under are free!  Get your advance tickets from any Highroller during adult open skate on Thursday night at Hot Wheels. Tickets will be available at the door (cash or credit accepted), but space is limited – be sure pick up your tickets early so you don’t miss out!

The Highrollers will be providing drinks and snacks for donations, and all proceeds from this scrimmage will directly benefit the league as we prepare for our exciting 2012 season.

Bonnie D. Stroir Boot Camp

The Lowcountry Highrollers are proud to announce that we are hosting a training camp led by Bonnie D. Stroir, Assistant Coach for Team USA and founder of the San Diego Derby Dolls!

This camp is open to all skaters who have passed the WFTDA skills assessment, who are a member of a roller derby league, and have USARS or WFTDA insurance. Camp will be held on Thursday, March 1st from 2:00PM-5:00PM at Hot Wheels Skating Center located at 1523 Folly Road.

The cost for the camp is $25 for skaters and $5 for spectators. Please register online, fill out our registration form and email it to LCHR Treasurer Wicked. Skaters will also be asked to sign a waiver upon arrival at Hot Wheels.

Charleston City Paper’s Best of Charleston 2012

It’s that time again! The Charleston City Paper is collecting ballots for their annual Best of Charleston reader survey!
We’re asking all our derby fans to show us the love and please vote the Lowcountry Highrollers as the Best Local Sports Team in this year’s suvey!

The Lowcountry Highrollers are holding their first ever yard sale on Saturday, January 7 from 7AM-12PM at Hot Wheels Skating Center on Folly Road.
