So yeah, I've been thinking lately about dying my hair blonde - or well bleaching them lighter in general. And today I thought that I really want to get white hair. And now I will try them out...
It will be a long journey since a) I have red hair to start with and b) I have red pigment in my hair which isn't too nice if you want white or silvery hair.
I took the first step to going blonde/white already - I marched to shop and bought bleach. I also bought light copper since it will take at least few bleaches before I'm even blonde. Used the bleach and realised I quite like the end result which is something between straweberry blonde and orange - and it has almost white highlights already.
I really don't suggest anyone trying what I do since what works for me might not work for somebody else. Also I've been dying my hair since I was 13 which makes it last 14 years. I haven't seen my real hair colour for many years and I've learned what my hair can take and what it can't - especially when talking about bleaching your hair. I've never dyed my hair in salon so I've always done it myself. I used to go from blonde to red and back to blonde in my teen years. After that I went to black and from there to red. I've been most colours between blonde and black - including blue.
So before you try to go white or even blonde consult a hairdresser or let salon do the work for you.
So yeah, I started from this...
And then I used L'Oreal's Super Blonde Prelightener to get my strawberry blonde/orange look.
Sorry for webcam picture but this late when there's no natural light available my camera makes my hair look more red than it actually is. I will take new picture tomorrow in the morning so you will see how it actually looked like dry (wet in the above picture) and in daylight.
Next step is to buy another bleach kit and silver shampoo. I ordered white hairdye from Stargazer (2 packs to be honest). Some people keep 1 month between bleaches but I have bleached my hair twice in two days. And still have hair left. Problem usually is that the latter doesn't get them anymore blonde so now I will try at least one week with silver shampoo to get the yellow bit out and will bleach it at some point when I feel appropriate.
But yeah, we'll see if I give up before white hair or dye them back something else when I achieve that.
But at least I'm omw to white hair.
That's a great colour! But I wouldn't do it...my hair finished being a total mess after dying it since I was 12 years...
ReplyDeleteI think my hair suffered more from going red from black. I think I bleached it 3 times in few weeks. We'll see :)
ReplyDeleteTuo ei ole helppo rupeama.Been there, done that :D
ReplyDeleteAinakin teit sen :D Katsotaan loppuuko mulla ensin hermot vai hiukset.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the final results. It's really hard to achieve hair colours like this. Especially if you're a heavy colour dyer like me. :)
ReplyDeleteI know and I'm worried about them staying yellow due to red pigment I have. I can't wait for the result either :D
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to see how it turns out! can you use a violet to correct the yellow?
ReplyDeleteHonestly I don't even know what's in silver shampoo that corrects the yellow but it's purple, yes. I tried to check for some INCIs of silver shampoo but didn't get anything up so no idea what it actually has to keep yellow out.
ReplyDeletei used to keep mine bleached white I used wellite bleach and clairol violet-blue or blue-violet toner after & it completely took out the yellow, then i used the purple shampoo from sally's i think may have also been clairol, but if you use it more than 2 or 3 times a week it'll actually give you little streaks of lilac
ReplyDeleteI had to buy Scwartzkopf's silver shampoo but I would've wanted to get Matrix's So Silver but neither of the places I went to didn't have it so I will start with this one. I thought I might use it for start every wash but after it's white I will use in every other wash :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, I lied, it was L'Oreal silver shampoo, just got it out of the bag :D
