So You Wanna Be a Blonde?
I have to admit it, there is just something about a blonde. She can be anything she wants. She can be super chic or super sexy, the girl next door or the go-go at the club, the suburban mom or the high power executive. I'm not the one to say whether or not blondes really do have more fun, but I will safely say I have never met a girl who didn't have fun when she tried out being blonde! In addition to that, I am a believer that any girl can be a blonde - the trick is making sure it's the right blonde.

Not too long ago, Ted was teaching a haircutting class to a whole group of Japanese students and I had the rare opportunity to take a lovely volunteer's hair color from brown to blond. She was a model we found on Craigslist and she was open to anything. Because it was a demonstration for hairdressers we wanted the change to be dramatic - and the idea of taking this virgin hair to bleach blond was making me go crazy with inspiration!!!
The final result
The process took about seven hours. I used Blondor (Wella's version of bleach) to lift the hair in several stages. It was one of the most tedious hair make-overs ever. I wanted to take my time lightening the hair to keep its integrity intact - in my opinion it's better to let the hair lift slowly than to blast the heck out of it quickly. When it was finished....it was devastating. We all loved it (loved it might be an understatement) and I thought we were finished, but she decided she wanted even more change and asked Ted to cut it all off!!! We loved it - what do you think? At least in Europe and North America, woman can be divided into 2 groups - those who are blonde and those who wish they were. And, regardless of color nearly all of them have a husband or boyfriend who wishes that their hair was lighter (except for the lightest of platinum blondes).
Yes, all three above pictures are of the same woman. The first is the "before" with her natural brown color, the second after bleaching and toning, the third after having her hair cut. By far, IMO, the third pic is the best. Awesome color change, but the color combined with length is a little too much, a tad witchy looking a la Donatella Versace. After the cut, the combination is stunning and sophisticated. Very costly to maintain, however.
I was born with blond and now my hair is brown and I want it blonde. My problem is I don't know what blonde is best for me. P.S. my hair already has blonde streaks in it. What should I do with it?

THE NUMERO UNO SECRET TO THAT TRUE BLOND EVERY DAY IS VIOLET SHAMPOO. I ALWAYS MAKE SURE MY SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER ARE CLEAR OR WHITE TO AVOID AND DYES IN THE PRODUCT THAT WOULD AFFECT MY COLOR. I MIX VIOLET SHAMPOO WITH MY REG SHAMPOO 2-3 TIMES A WEEK AND USE THERMAL PROTECTANT TO THE MAX!!!

Try using clariol maxi blonde. It's suppose to lighten black hair even. It's the lightest you can go in one step and leave it on for the max 90 mins like I did. I have naturally dark blonde hair and if I don't leave it on that long it looks to yellow. But you can always tone it with clariol natural instincts if you don't like how it looks or if too brassy. You can use the light blonde shade or med or dark blonde. But if you want it lighter I would go with the light blonde shade. But depending on how dark your hair is and how long it takes to lighten you might have to double preocess your hair. But I would maybe wait a day or so in between. You might have to use maxi blonde twice. You could also try putting a plastic shopping bag or shower cap on over the maxi blonde and hit it with a blow dryer on the high heat to try to lighten it more even. But you are gonna have to chop your ends after and deep condition it alot and leave a spray on conditioner or something in it. It will be so dry.
I think she looked hot and sexy with the long straight blonde hair. I don't think she should have got it cut so soon, without trying out the longer length for awhile 1st. At least a few months. The guys would have went crazy over her. Most guys I know hate short hair on women and they tell you to grow it longer and say that short hair is for butch girls and makes the you look like a boy and makes the face look rounder!

Without really seeing your hair its hard to make a good recomendation. By the way it sounds you have tried just about everything. The thing to remember about at home hair color is you are going to get your best results if you stay within the two level rule - only lightening or depositing color no more than two levels from your natural color. If you have a dark brown natural color you can only lift it with at home color to a light brown and get FAB results. If you are a medium brown you can only get to a dark blond, if you are a light brown you can get to a medium blond - and so on and so on.
That said, if you want more you have two choices - go to a proffessional or take the process to the next level at home.....For this you must be very brave and have a beauty supply store near by.
It is kind of inspiring to me to try a virtual walk through with you! How would you feel about sending in pictures of yourself that show your new growth. I will give a reccomendation of what you can try to find at the beauty supply store and how to apply it then you can send after pictures so we can see the results! It's not like getting a tattoo or branded for life. It's true that many times what we are given looks great - at the same time it can be a heck of a lot of fun to step out and try something new! I like brunette but blonde is not bad either. I was blonde before, but I dyed it dark brown, almost black, because my boyfriend suggested it. Now I have "Nicole look" from pyssycat dolls, but I just have blue eyes and some highlights. I like it so much now. Sometimes I put highlights and sometimes I dye them black again. I am from Finland (it's in Scandinavia) and I personally think dark hair is sexier. Blonde is good too, but here we have too much fatty blondes I think. I have noticed that Americans do like blondes (Pamela A. look), but I think blondes are kind of nineties thing. Latinos are hot. Like Adriana Lima. I just love her.
I am a natural blonde but I have to say, brunettes are far better! I have recently died my hair a lovely dark chestnut, a VERY big improvement from my natural bleach blonde hair. Plus, guys like brunettes FAR better than blondes, so it's a win win situation, and no offense, but the girl looked better in the first stage, her natural one ; ) -Tess
I agree with You Tess, she looks beautiful in her natural sate. Obviously her hair isn't styled or anything, but even messy it looks better with her skin tone and eyes. She reminds me of Natalie Portman a bit. The blond hair is just creepy looking. I'm waiting for her to start cackling.
However, YES you did do a good job, it's such a grueling process! I'd recommend to anyone with darker hair that wants to go blond to do so professionally so you don't turn it a funky shade of orange or do so much damage from bleaching that your hair falls out, because then you won't have to worry about what color your hair is anymore, you'll have to worry about where the nearest wig shop is located!
I have a problem with your statements. The first is that you automatically assume that everyone wants their hair to be a certain way. To say that just sounds egotistical and idiotic.
IMO you would be the type of person that would tell a brunette she would look better IF she were a blonde or her hair was lighter. With insecurities in woman worse now than they ever before, comments like this don't help.
The adult industry and egotistical men are the reason that many woman feel the need to change the way they appear on the outside. The problem I have with that, is the changes NEVER reflect what is actually on the inside.

I agree. It's hard to read about people that associate ONE hair color with looking a certian way. That is quite narrow minded and it really puts a skew on the way people feel about themselves if they were told they would look better if....

I love the color of blonde both of these models have. I've been trying to reach a certain blonde for years and I'm running out of ideas. I dye my own hair and I was hoping you could give me some tips as to which bleaches and dyes I should use to go from a golden/copper honey blonde to a platinum bombshell. Please help! Thank you.
