Can I use an overdose of Ultram (given by the vet) to euthanize my elderly cat so that he may die in peace at?

Posted By on February 12, 2012

My cat is dying of kidney failure and I do not want to put him through the process of going to have the vet do it; I have done this with 3 other cats and was not happy with the process at all. I believe my cats died in trama. I want this one to go peacefully at home. If I give him a significant dose, won’t he just go to sleep without pain. I don’t want to do anything to hurt him. Please help!

Chosen Answer:

When they give your cat euthanasia, it’s two injections that happen, one stops the heart and the other which they give beforehand puts them asleep, so there is no trauma. If you want to see trauma, try and play vet yourself. Go see the vet and have the cat put to sleep y him, there is no trauma – you are not qualified to overdose your cat, which would certainly have a traumatic time since it can be a slow and very painful death.

Any information on pain relief of arthritis using marijuana?

Posted By on February 10, 2012

My wife’s doctor told her he cannot help her anymore. For pain relief he prescribed Vicodin. It helps but she would like to use marijuana as a tea and see if it helps. Both of us are non-smokers and have had no experience with marijuana. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Chosen Answer:

In a Medical Marijuana (MMJ) State your wife needs to ask the Dr. to sign a recommendation form. The Dr. should understand that pharmaceutical pain killers do not allow everyone to have a quality of life. A State that allows MMJ has a form online that she can present to the Dr. After registering as an MMJ patient I would grow the medicine. Search the Internet for Tea recipes ( I’d suggest BudTer and make some cookies). There are co ops and local groups that help patients with home grown medicine. Dispensaries are available in MMJ States for medicine purchases. Ingesting MMJ can take up to 2 hours to reach all the extremities. It does give a more all over body relief but slowly. Using MMJ means experimenting with dose and frequency. Also look at a vaporizer which delivers the instant relief and is not ‘smoking’ detrimental.

How often can you get a refill for Ultram? ?

Posted By on February 8, 2012

Let’s say you have 3 refills left. And you have been getting them filled every two weeks?

Chosen Answer:

If it says take 1 tablet in morning, and you have 30 tab, then you can only get the refill every 30 days… that said, if it says 1 or 2 , then its either 30 or 15 days respectively. Seldom they say take as needed, in that case it is up to the pharmacist to dispense at what interval they feel is safe for you.

Can ultram be taken with codeine?

Posted By on February 7, 2012

I have some back probs , but the codeine isent working, is it ok to take ultram with codeine?

Chosen Answer:

It should not hurt but I would make sure it is the ultram not the ultracet. the ultracet has tylenol in it and the codeine probably does too. The ultram is nonnarcotic but is very effective if you are having pain. I live by ultram when I have acute episodes of fibromyalgia. It works better for me than any narcotic and doesn’t have the bad side effects. I hope that helps

Did anyone go through labour and forget to get pain relief?

Posted By on February 6, 2012

I just wondered if anyone else found labour so distracting that they couldn’t think of anything else, including pain relief.

I really wanted to try gas and air and had planned to, and the midwife had some with her that I could have used if I had remembered it existed!

I was very quiet and very calm and totally in my own head, and totally just forgot that there was such a thing as pain relief.

Has anyone else done this? I know it sounds weird!

i have seen many births and that is one thing NOBODY forgets even if they dont want it they know they can change their mind

my father is taking warfarin and wonders what pain relief he can take for headache?

Posted By on February 5, 2012

he said that most standard pain relief says not to take if currently on warfarin. Any ideas?

Chosen Answer:

Fioricet helps for migraines. I take two tablets everyday. It’s best to get them filled generic at Walmart. They give you thick dull blue colored pills. Walgreen’s give you different fioricet that doesn’t work as well.

Posted By on February 4, 2012

I’ve got an abcessed wisdom tooth and am in extreme pain. My doctor gave me 50 mg tabs of ultram but they’re not touching the pain anymore. I have some oxycodone and am thinking of taking them together to hopefully ease the pain however I don’t want to do anything harmful but the pain is unbearable, help!

Chosen Answer:

Actually it is safe to take them both together. My boyfriend is prescribed both medications for chronic pain.
