Windows XP Pro.

I have "My Computer" icons "Arrange by Type" and "Show in Groups".

Problem is they never stay that way, and always end up back unarranged.
I have ticked the "remember each folders view settings" but it still never stays.

Anyone know what the problem could be? Even after a reinstall (for a different reason) the problem still occurs.

Thanks

"FREE" Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Download TweakUI and increase the value in the attached pic....

thanks for that Steve...didn't even know that option existed in TweakUI.
Will see if that solves the problem.

OK, gave it a try....after a restart, the icons are "unarranged" again.
Its very annoying...any other suggestions?

For grins, seek and and destroy the hidden file called IconCache.db found in this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\Application Data

See if this registry key exists:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoSaveSettings=1
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Program Manager\Restrictions\NoSaveSettings=1
If so change them to 0 (zero) or delete them.
and check
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Program Manager\Settings\SaveSettings
value should be 1

Right-click the Desktop, choose "Arrange icons by" and make sure that "Auto arrange" is unchecked.

I have made sure of all of the above info in the previous posts...I had all of them done properly.
Things seem to be ok so far...will find out next reboot.

Thanks for the help.
