How do you set default view folder options

I want my folder view options to default to LIST. Every time I create a new folder it opens with LARGE ICONS. I have the "Remember each folder's view settings" button checked and when I open a new folder and change it to list it does remember it but I want them to open with LIST as the default. I went into Windows Explorer View and made sure it has LIST checked. I'm baffled. Help

I usually open control panel just to have a folder open. then click on view and choose details. Then click on tools/folder options/the view tab and click on the button 'like current view' Turn off the 'remember each folders view settings' option. This works for me...I like details for my view too.! Good luck.
