Remember each folders view settings dosnt work. | |||
In XP v 5.1 Build 2600 I want Windows Explorer windows narrow enough to set them side by side and have them fit on my monitor screen. But though I have: 'Remember each folders view settings' checked in: Tools> Folder Options > View when I open a folder on my desktop or on a drive that is not my main drive the size has always expanded. If I reset the size it will last for the day but when I reboot the set size is again lost. Also, sometimes the status bar disappears. Is there a way to get Windows Explorer to hold to the configured size and keep the status bar? Like, changing settings in the registry? Thank you, Emory . |

The Default for Windows XP is to remember the view settings for the 400 most recently used folders. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Line #2 - Increase Folder View Size Limit to 8000 "Emory Richter" <emory (~=~) moonlight.com> wrote in message news:MPG.1baa7bd7f6c291b598968f (~=~) msnews.microsoft.com... > In XP v 5.1 Build 2600 > I want Windows Explorer windows > narrow enough to set them side by side > and have them fit on my monitor screen. > > But though I have: > 'Remember each folders view settings' > checked in: > Tools> Folder Options > View > when I open a folder on my desktop > or on a drive that is not my main drive > the size has always expanded. > > If I reset the size it will last for the day > but when I reboot the set size is again lost. > > Also, sometimes the status bar disappears. > > Is there a way to get Windows Explorer > to hold to the configured size > and keep the status bar? > Like, changing settings in the registry? > > Thank you, > Emory . |

taurarian, The reg file seems to solve the the problem for all folders except my CD drive. But - good enough. Thanks for the quick tweak.
