  • Hello,
Recently when trying to save information using the windows dialog box (such as web pages) the folder list is completly mixed up.  This was not the case before installing SP-2.  I have searched this forum and found several other people with this problem, dating back to 2002, but none of the solutions offered have worked.  Can anyone help me fix this problem, it is really annoying to continually right click and re-order the list to find the correct folder.

    Thanks so much.
  • open my computer click tools on the toolbar and scroll down until folder options, click it. on the tab click view, then scroll down until you find the flowing: remember each folders view settings, tick it, this should work

  • Nope, sorry it didn't do the trick.  The dialog box is not the same as a folder being opened by windows.  It shows the list of folders where you can save something, and it has always been alphabetical.  Now, it is sorted by the modified date, even if I turn off that view.  There is some imbedded command somewhere that some Windows update created.  Any more suggestions?

    Thanks for trying.

  • Thanks,  I found this information, and it worked.  Similar to that stated above, but using Windows Explorer.

In Windows Explorer (within Accessories in XP):
    Open a folder, &...

    (2) Go to Tools > Folder Options > View tab > Click "Reset All Folders" and uncheck "Remember each folders view settings".  Close Tools menu.
    (1) Click Views > and choose Details.  Click the top of the Name column so it appears alphabetical.  Choose other views as desired.
    (3) Repeat step (2) and click "Apply to all Folders"
    (3) Hold Ctrl as you click [x] to close the folder/window.
    (4) Test to see if folders are re-set.  If so, you can re-check "remember each folders view settings" to customize particular folders.
    (4) Perhaps, reboot.
