 When i open new folder the size=800x600, everytime I've to resize to make it big. :crazyrocker: Does anyone know where in registry this default size can be changed? hku\.default\something????

;) When I open/save/select files on browse window (can't save its settings like detail view etc etc)

For solution part, I found FVM3 (VBS batch file) and FileOpenPatch from internet, BUT this zucks (it messes my other default views). FOR NOW, I'm trying QTTabbar which claimed earlier to solve this problem... (but it still doesn't solve it, every new window opens with same size)

Does anyone have solution to these annoying problems of XP? :( If NOT, does anyone know how to use these QTTabber Plugin SDKs so this goes right???

There seems to be something wrong with your registry.
explorer always opens in the size it last had when closed.
Watch out for closing order. The last window closed, before a new one was opened, determines it size.

Nothing is wrong with my registry. If you create a new folder it opens at "default" size. If I increase the size and close it, it will be saved all right BUT thats not the point, i want to go after the "default" size. When you click "Tools" > "Folder Options" > "View" tab > "Apply to all folders", view settings like type:details etc gets saved BUT NOT window size . I have to open, resize, close and then reopen (for every new folder so it gets saved). There must be a hidden registry value somewhere which points to 800x600 :). All this is so annoying now as I'm regularly booting from OS ramdisk (firadisk), i save folder settings and upon restart BANG! gone!

Use RegMon to track the registry keys that are read when you open a new folder and then which are read once you open a folder you had opened before.
Compare the two and you should find what you're looking for. At least if it really is a registry value and not a function in a file.

I tried the browse window patch and only height+details view is getting patched but width remains same... All changes are taking place here
c:\WINDOWS\system32\comdlg32.dll
but when i try to ResHack + compile + save, browse is no longer available...

The above REG value (previous post) probably stores the number folder win remembers but not the size...
