What can I eat or do to help my thigh muscle pain?

I joined my school’s Cross Country and for the whole summer we’ve gotta run everyday. It’s only been the first week and only 3 days I’ve gone to practice and my back thigh muscles are already soring and in kinda pain. I’m gonna keep on training and running everyday for it, but what can I do or eat to relief some of my sore and pain? My coach said that eating an orange will help the sores, what eles can I eat/do?

Chosen Answer:

You really should rest sore muscles. If you don’t feel like you have the luxury of doing that you need to make sure you drink enough water throughout the day. Muscles are sore from a build up of lactic acid drinking water will help flush that out of your body. You should also massage your thighs before and after you train.

Can an excess of adrenalin cause muscle pain?

When I have a very bad nightmare and I’m terrified and my heart races, sometimes it’s so intense that all my muscles hurt, but I don’t move while sleeping. It stops when I wake up and relax. Is it normal? Can an excess of adrenalin cause muscle pain?
Thanks everybody

Chosen Answer:

How do you know you don’t move if you’re asleep? Having spent some time in a sleep lab I can tell you folks do all sorts of unlikely things. However, even if you are still, epinephrine (the proper name) causes muscles to contract in a “fight or flight” state of readiness-this could very well cause stiffness and soreness.

Is soma (carisoprodol) addictive?

I’ve been prescribed darvocet and soma for back pain. I have noticed that while the darvocet are nice at times, the soma tends to help more. I mentioned this to my doctor and he said that was good and that most people just want the pain killers and that he’d be happy to prescribe me whatever I need when it came to the Soma.
One thing I have noticed the past couple of days, is that I’ve gotten to a point where i REALLY enjoy the soma. I still only take them when I need to, but I feel like they could possibly be habit forming…are they?

Chosen Answer:

My Nursing Drug Handbook states that the drug can be habit forming and that abrupt withdrawal can cause insomnia, headaches, nausea, or abdominal cramps.

Can you break soma (carisoprodol)?

In half. and take like 1.5 dose or 2 or 3? What is the overdose warning

Chosen Answer:

I would call and talk to a pharmacist. They are muscle relaxers and could suppress your central nervous system. If it was prescribed to take 1, that is what I would take. I would not want to take any chances of an overdose.

what is carisoprodol?

Chosen Answer:

it is a kick butt muscle relaxer and my drug of choice when I have spasms from arthritis.
i don’t use it often because it makes me feel boneless, which is the whole point I guess.
It is also called Soma and is definitely a narcotic. Most doctors are very reluctant to write much of a prescription for it and I am lucky to get a 4-5 day supply no matter how much I hurt but it works for me very well.

I wore the wrong boots on a shopping trip and now I have muscle pain at the back of my knee?

The pain goes slightly down into my calf. The muscle feels very tight and very painful when I walk, sit etc. I have been icing with no relief. I am looking for possible suggestions to ease and heal the pain and/or suggestions as to what the issue might be. Thank you
The boots have about a 21/2″ square sturdy heel. The muscle feels strained and tight.

Chosen Answer:

My sister in Seattle sees a chiropractor named Dr Walia for her back pain. His website is http://www.drwalia.com Maybe you could email him with some questions or just get some information from the site. Hope this helps!
