Hi, I was wondering if anybody knows if there’s any over the counter supplements that can be used to treat panic attacks and/or depression? I would love to discover some sort of supplements or medicine that would help prevent social anxieties specifically. Maybe I should find some sort of breathing exercises to help keep my heart rate down.
Chosen Answer:
If you’re looking for over the counter supplements to cope with the panic attacks, try St Johns Wort and Omega 3 Fish oil. These 2 supplements have shown to play an important role in brain function.

I’m writing a brief paper about panic disorder and just wanted to clarify something.
Are the recurring panic attacks caused by the same situation each time? Or do the panic attacks happen randomly?
Chosen Answer:
They are caused by the same feelings and thoughts each time but not neccessarily the same situation.
Everytime i am alone at home i might get a panic attack but i can also get them when i’m home with family. I might go to the library and not get panic but i might in the car and next to week might be different again though the thoughts that lead to my panic attack are usually always the same .

I’ve had multiple panic attacks in the past four years since I moved states. I’ve had too many to count this year already and my mom knows I get them. They only last a few minutes but they’re still really scary. I’m almost 16. I also have (unofficial) hypoglycemia, which I know isn’t supposed to be a good mix with panic attacks. What should I do?

I mean I’m the only one in my family that has this disorder so far. I get really worried which I know I shouldn’t but I think is it possible for my daughter to get this.I look at her and pray and hope that she doesn’t get it so I was just wondering. I also want to have more kids but scared that they will get this.
Chosen Answer:
We can never be certain about what disorders might be passed from parent to child…
what we CAN be certain about is to love and support them regardless of what they have.
Never let your fear of illness prevent you from having children…because then, you are allowing the illness to control you instead of you controlling it!

I am prescribed to take klonopin situationally and don’t have any other doses built up in my system, just this morning a .25mg dose.
Later tonight will I be ok to sip on a cocktail?

I’ve just started to take klonopin and it’s working great, i feel very sedated and my anxiety is almost gone. Im taking 1mg twice a day, how long would the benefits last? can it still be effective after 3 months of taking? When i develop a tolerance to it should I up the dosage?
also is it good to excercise while being on the effects of klonopin? is there benefits to that?
Chosen Answer:
You develop tolerance to the sedation, but you do not develop tolerance to either the anti-seizure effects, or the anti-anxiety effects. Many patients confuse the feeling of being sedated, with the anxiolytic effect. These are absolutely not the same thing, and are mediated by different receptors in different areas of the brain.
In short. You’ll stop feeling sleepy after 2 to 4 weeks. You can use it to manage anxiety (or epilepsy for that matter) more or less indefinitely. There’s somewhere in the range of five million people in the US who use drugs in klonopin’s class for such things, at a period of greater than five years, without increasing their dose.
There’s nothing special about exercise while on klonopin, though you might want to wait until the sedation starts to wear off – as that can make you a little loopy.

Does it take away for the effectiveness of the Klonopin?
Chosen Answer:
In my experience, caffiene does impact the calming effect of Klonopin. I was never sensitive to caffiene before taking it, now it makes me a might bit nervous.

I have been on Klonopin for over 4 years to control my anxiety.
About a month ago, I tried getting off of it. I went from taking about 2mg a day to 0.375mg gradually over a few months.
I have been feeling very tired, can’t concentrate, irritable at times, depressed, and having more anxiety. Just kind of felt “crappy”
Can decreasing Klonopin make me feel so bad?
Chosen Answer:
Yes…. the withdrawals from any benzo can be horrible and they can last for a year or more…….. try going back up a little bit then taper more slowly…. I was only on 1mg a day and it has taken me 6 months to get down to .25mgs…. the last little bit is the hardest too…. do not worry about how long it is taking you to detox…. even if you just reduce the dose by .125 a month (or even half of that)… I am down to 1/2 a tablet (.5 mg tablet) and I am now using my pill splitter to shave just a little bit off each half tablet.. next month I will shave a little more… as long as you are making progress… the slower the taper the fewer side effects.
