Official Announcement - August 2nd
Shane Shepard of Sulphur Springs, Texas announces his candidacy today as an Independent for the United State House of Representatives for the 4th District of Texas. This follows a contested petition that was submitted in May.
Texas Independents who seek a place on the ballot in the November election are required to receive 500 signatures of registered voters who did not vote in the primary. Shepard turned in the petition before the deadline and waited approximately a month to hear the results. In June, Shepard received word the petition had only 498 qualifying signatures and he did not qualify to be on the ballot.
