Spring. As new students are deciding what club to join... Ritsu Tainaka takes her childhood friend, Mio Akiyama, along with her to observe the light music club.

But all the members of the light music club have graduated, and the club will be disbanded unless four new members can be assembled. With Tsumugi Kotobuki joining their ranks, they go looking for one last member, when Yui Hirasawa, a musical instrument novice, joins, mistakenly thinking that "light music club" refers to lighthearted music (like whistling).
