Wouldn’t it be cool if you could start up your home theater and be presented with your own custom 21st Century Fox theatrical intro video? Well, you can now! VipID is a new startup site in beta stage that is offering over a dozen custom video intro templates at resolutions of 480×270, 640×360, 1280×720 and 1920×1080 (full HD!). Pricing is reasonable, starting at $1.99 for 200 creation points and it scales well with the more points you purchase. Right now, $34.99 buy you an unlimited number of videos at any resolution…it’s a lifetime license!
I was able to create the following video absolutely for free just by signing up. As of now, there are three free templates to choose from – 20th Century Fox style (used in the sample below), Pixar and Universal.
I can only assume this will be a favorite for those who are supporters of the custom intro wish at the Media Browser Community Tracker.
This is amazing!! I just built my sister an HTPC for a housewarming / hanukkah present. I was going to try and come up with some crappy JPG image I could use but this is phenomenal. Thank you Jon!
Love the idea, but where do you use the video? When WMC starts? When it goes into Movies folder? Before every movie?
Are we sure it’s a lifetime license? It isn’t an unlimited number of points, only 10,000.
Then it has changed since. At the time of the post, I got it directly from their purchase page.
These DIY videos, along with Ebr’s new MBIntros plugin is going to top my theater off… FINALLY!!! A long time supporter of the “Custom Intros” feature request over at the Media Browser CT. This has been a long time coming, and looking at Ebr’s UI, its going to be the icing on the cake for dedicated theater builders. The intro videos created at the VipID website are top notch, and put the Blender created intros to shame.
I nabbed one of the free VipID movies a while back and I’m sure I’ll give it a try, but I don’t know about the long term.
Strange…
“We do not own the xxxxxx Intro logo or fanfare, it is copyrighted to it’s original owner who have all rights reserved.”
They admit right on their site and attempt to make money with it?
Looks one one tiny free one and no preview?
