Re: Windows 7 and Subtitle workshop 2.51 working solution

I tried all the above, I guess, and it still not works properly in my Windows 7 64 bits. My video is upside down and VobSub, for whatever reason, can't load. I tried K-lite, Shark and the whole ball of wax, but I can't get it to work. How come some people are working with it? My video card is an HD 6870. Tried the "raw video and 2. force RG" and it is still the same.

Any help?

Re: Windows 7 and Subtitle workshop 2.51 working solution

Well, a friend told me that I just have to choose the theme "Windows 7", both Aero or Basic. There are others too. Now it works nice with both options, but the Windows 7 Basic is running smoother than the Aero version. I guess the whole problem is with the Aero, and not the codecs.

Have you tried to update your graphics drivers? I have HD 4570 with 512 MB of DDR3 on my Toshiba lap (4 GB of DDR3) and all works O.K. even with Aero. And I have installed Catalyst 10.10.

But on the other side, for some reason I've had ffdshow encoder problems in VirtualDub so I've removed Shark007 and installed CCCP (small package 7.5 mb but it provides only 32bit codecs). I've skipped VobSub installation and now I have working SW 2.51 and encoder in VirtualDub.

All comes to this: VobSub do doesn't work properly with 2.51 on my Windows 7 x64.

Re: Windows 7 and Subtitle workshop 2.51 working solution

I started with the Catalyst from the CD, which I don’t know the version, and then I went for the new 10.12. But the thing is that my video image is horrible in both Subtitle and WMV-12. The only one that works fine is Media Classic. Someone said something about WMV-12 codecs, but I need to find it first.

I gave up on Windows 7 for now and I am back to my old computer with XP. I am loving it, because, to me, Windows 7 is more like a beta version, both 32 and 64 bits. My Creative Audigy lost its equalizer features and is crashing the system, although Microsoft said it would work fine. I can’t fathom this. They will have to digest a very unpleasant e-mail of mine.

For me the problem was not only MKV but SW 2.51 didn't play any movies and it crashed as soon as I load some movie. None of above solutions worked for me so I've found my (easier) solution.

First of all, I use Shark007 codec pack (http://shark007.net/index.html) on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

1. SW 2.51 is 32bit and uses 32bit codecs, launch 32bit Settings Application of Sharky007 as Administrator (Important)

2. In Config tab under Subtitle Control instead of option "Direct VobSub" mark "FFDshow/External".

3. In SWAP tab under XVID/DIVX/MPV4 and MPEG2 groups just mark "Use FFDShow's Codec"

4. Press Exit and you are done

Hi ThErIpPeR,

Since I started with windows 7 -64    I had sometimes problems with SW 2.51.
Now again had problems with video part and I checked internet and tried a lot of "solutions".
Finally I installed Shark codec and applied settings suggested by you AND IT WORKED!
Thank you from Hungary

Re: Windows 7 and Subtitle workshop 2.51 working solution

Hello ThErIpPeR, I tried Shark007 and the setup above and it only works without the Aero. Otherwise the video stays upside down in the Subtitle Workshop. Also, the voice is not synchronized, both in Subtitle and in films. And the video images are way worse than with my XP. I already tried everything. Any ideas? I am using 64 bits.

Re: Windows 7 and Subtitle workshop 2.51 working solution

I solved the problem with windows.7.codec.pack.v2.7.0. I still don't know about image quality, because I am using my old 17" tube monitor. If I put this rig in my office I will test in my 22".

Amazing...
After trying many and many solutions, the only one that worked is yours.
Thank you very much.

Re: Windows 7 and Subtitle workshop 2.51 working solution

There is another option with KMPlayer, no need codecs.

Settings/Settings (Alt+S) / External Preview/General  / Exe of the video player

Browse KMPlayer.exe.

Hi!

Which instruction worked? The one from ThErIpPeR, or the one form perelli, because I have the same problem, and I don't want install an other codec if it's not necessary.

Thanks.

Re: Windows 7 and Subtitle workshop 2.51 working solution

Subtitle Workshop 2.51 does work here without problems on Win7 x86 and Win7Codecs.

This is what I did:
Simply select "No Subtitles" under "Subtitle Control" and on the first Tab "Config" under "FFDshow Video config" scroll all the way down to "Raw video" and change from "disabled" to "all supported".

This does the job for me. All I want is to be able to preview .mkv videos with subtitles.

Re: Windows 7 and Subtitle workshop 2.51 working solution

Hello

My pc runs on 7 64bits and I didn't have video preview
SW crashed when I tried opening one video

I made researchs and I find the solution that works for me
I don't know if it will work for someones

I used K-Lite Codec Pack (the last version) http://www.codecguide.com/

After installed it, go to K-Lite Codec Pack's file in "all programs"
in the file  "configuration",  choose "ffdshow video decoder configuration"

one window appears, go to the bottom and check "overlay" and go to "output"
there keep only the option "RGB32" checked

(Check too the option "flip video vertically" if you have one issue with video like me)

I the same file select codec "DirectVOBSUB", and in option, check in the tab "colors"  "force RGB"

normaly It's will work nice

Yeah, just one thing... For some reason the exit button does not work, and when I kill the process in task manager it resets the settings. Any way to make the exit button work????

LE: Resetting the computer made the exit button work, but the settings are uneffective. I still cannot see the video. Only the sound works.

Hi,

I followed this guide also, but the video didn't show at all. The solution was that I had to enable raw video under ffdshow video decoder configuration (this setting has already been mentioned before). The correct path to this setting is Codecs --> Raw video --> all supported --> OK.

Hopefully this helps you guys smile
