we have a distributed primary/child server infrastructure currently running EC 4.5

I have implemented EC 4.7 on a new server, installed Enterprise Console only and pointed it to the Primary 4.5 Management Server.

After installation, on starting EC 4.7 I'm getting an error message

unable to log in as the specified user

My basic question is can a EC 4.7 connect successfully to a 4.5 Mgmt Server? do I need a Sophos 4.7 db on the Mgmt Server?

I dont think the console v4.7 is backwards compatible with the Management server 4.5

You will need to upgrade?

It is very quick and easy to do - Did you run the upgrade advisor?

It provides details of what you need to do first, or look out for. it makes upgrading a breeze.

Is there a reason why you would prefer the management server to remain on v4.5?

The mangement service, the database and all remote consoles must be on the same level.
