前置詞 at,on,in の違い
英語の前置詞とは、日本語における助詞「てにをは」みたいなもの。
英語には、沢山の前置詞があるが、
その中から時間や場所を表す at, in, on について学ぼう。
前置詞の基本イメージを理解すれば、
英語を攻略しやすくなるし、より正確に意思を伝えられるようになる。
at : 時間的にも場所的にも広がりのないピンポイントの表現に利用
例えば、
at the restaurant レストランで
at midnight 真夜中に
I was at the end of my brope. （万事休すだ）
She turns up her nose at her old friends. （彼女は旧友を鼻であしらう）
I'm very sorry, but he is out at the moment.
（あいにく、ただいま外出しております／電話の受け答え）
on : ある面への接触状態を表すときに利用
例えば、
on the beach ビーチで
on his birthday 彼の誕生日に（日付はカレンダーに接している）
I met him on the morning of that accident. （その事故の朝、彼に会った）
His business is on the rocks. （彼の仕事は破綻している）
She put on a hat. （彼女は帽子をかぶった）
in : ある空間や状況に対象がある状態を表すときに利用
例えば、
made in Japan 日本で作られた
in 2007 2007年に
I have butterflies in my stomach. （ハラハラする）
She was in tears. （彼女は涙に暮れていた）
Mr. Eigo is an expert in language teaching. （エイゴは言葉を教える専門家だ）
at, on, in
英語ではどの前置詞を使うかによって状況や場所が明確になる。
at 点を表す at the side of the pool （プールサイドで）
on 面を表す on the pool （プールの上で）
in 空間を表す in the pool （プールの中で）
