I have a google group but having some issues trying to organize all
the new threads. I like how google groups help forum has a topic and
people are able to ask a question from each topic.

for example: "Managing your Group" is a topic,
I can post a new question under this topic (as I am doing right now)

this is a much cleaner layout. How do I get this for my google
group? Is this a special layout that google created only for the help
forum?

I have too many threads that should be under one topic, can I move
threads around and move it around???

Please, don't tell me you too that's a red herring.......but if you
analyze the URLs of the different subdiscussions of this forum, you
can notice that more than with a division in the Discussions, they've
been achieved gluing together in a kind of supergroup six different
groups.

Considering that a Google account can create no more than 5
groups......maybe such a feature is not so easy to apply to all groups
like it seems.

Moreover, also the help forums for other Google products are examples
about how it's truly difficult to "discipline" members to stay in a
sub section.........

Personally I believe I never tried here to tell: "That's the wrong
subsection". It would be useless, when actually very few of us are
regularly answering, and there's just one Google Guide!

What you can do is to emphasize the most important threads, by using
Options, and "Show this topic first".

I had two profiles on my google group. one was my gmail; the other
was another email address (not google). I had both set as owners of
the group. I removed the gmail profile the other day. Now I can't
login to manage my group b/c I can't login with a non-gmail address.

Am I toast?

I have the same problem as well and looks like there is no solution as
noone has replied to you either

Maybe not, but you should at least give your group MAIL ADDRESS.
It will be masked, but for Google employees.

I have a new group member with the same first name as an existing
group member. So there email addresses are both, for example....
johnny@XXX the domain names are different. The add and invite
refuse to invite or add the second johnny because there is a first
johnny.....UGH!

It shouldn't happen, unless (but it shouldn't happen too) one address
is Gmail, the other Googlemail.

Maybe he's having the same nickname........he should try to modify the
nickname he's being able to, given that the mail address is having a
Google account, into a new nickname.
Preferably the same in My Account, Profile, and also as the group
nickname in Edit my membership.

There were new options in the groups settings of my Google groups, but
part of them are not available today

The missing options are the next

Access tab
Join notification When a new user joins the group, don't notify
anybody.

When a new user joins the group, notify owners.

When a new user joins the group, notify owners and managers.

When a new user joins the group, notify all members.

Leave notification When a member leaves the group, don't notify
anybody.

When a member leaves the group, notify owners.

When a member leaves the group, notify owners and managers.

When a member leaves the group, notify all other members.

The new tab is Spam Controls. It includes the next options:

With suspected spam messages: Post them to the group
Send them to the moderation queue default
Send them to the moderation queue, but do not send notification to
moderators
Immediately reject them
Forgery detection Do not apply forgery detection default
Check all inbound messages for forgery, if possible
Messages may only be sent through this website, and email will be
rejected

I try to seach for members, and I can only find them if the first
letter starts with those letter. I would love to be able to search for
Surnames or emails, or even domain names of the email.
