Yamaha

From the amazing Takumi-Kezuri construction to the custom designed pickups, this signature electric from the former Limp Bizkit guitarist is unquestionably impressive.

Borland was intensely involved in every aspect of the design process of his dream signature model guitar from conception to completion. It boasts a distinctive design incorporating Yamaha's unique Takumi-Kezuri construction in which the back, sides, and center block are all carved from one block of wood (alder, in this case). A two-piece carved maple top finishes the instrument, making it a true semi-hollowbody electric guitar. Other notable design elements include YASH (Yamaha Artist Services Hollywood) designed Custom33 pickups and binding on the inlayed 12-degree angled headstock, F-holes, and beautifully contoured body.

I have to say when i played this guitar, i really enjoyed it.  the pickups sound almost identical to vintage wide ranges.  if you look at the body and the pickup choice it becomes apparent, that it is in fact a slight copy of the old fender starcaster, he in fact uses one in the studio.  the neck feels quick, the action was perfect.  the body felt a little awkward when sitting, but standing it felt pretty nice.  the tremolo is essentially your run of the mill floyd rose.  i really enjoyed this guitar, but i don't think it is worth the price.

This guitar doesn't sound good, its ugly, has no inlays, cost way too much, and a Floyd Rose and 24 frets on a semi-hollow is just dumb and lowers its sound quality. If you want a great semi-hollow then try the Epiphone Sheraton II which is half the price.

Yamaha's manufacturing philosophy has always been about making great products. Nowhere is this more evident than in their musical instruments. All Yamaha products represent state-of-the-art manufacturing and usually provide good value for the money. Having played this particular guitar many times I can say it definitely has all the famous quality of Yamaha guitars. The semi-hollow design reduces weight. The quick-lock nut is a much needed innovation too. Overall, my only dissatisfaction with the instrument is the clumsy shape and exorbitant price. If you want something original then why buy a copy of an unoriginal guitar, presumably co-designed by an ?original? guitarist? Then, to have insult to injury, the price is dramatically inflated just because it has an en vogue player?s name on it. If you absolutely adore Wes Boreland, and must have this guitar, you won?t be disappointed with the quality? Yamaha has made certain it is fine. You will just be paying too much for the ?artist?s? name and features you can find on other Yamaha products that are a much better value.
