You have full control over the types of browsing data you'd like to erase from your browser.
How to remove browsing data
Windows and Linux instructions
- Click the Tools
menu.
- Select Options.
- Click the Under the Hood tab.
- Click Clear browsing data.
- Select the checkboxes for the types of information you wish to remove.
- Use the "Clear data from this period" menu to select the amount of data you want to delete.
- Click Clear Browsing Data.
Mac instructions
- Select Chrome > Clear Browsing Data on the menu bar.
- Select the checkboxes for the types of information you wish to remove.
- Use the "Clear data from this period" menu to select the amount of data you want to delete.
- Click Clear Browsing Data.
Information that is deleted
Use the links below to see the data that is deleted, depending on the options you select.
Clear the list of the websites you've visited in Google Chrome. Their content will no longer be searchable from the History page. Clearing your browsing history specifically deletes the following:
- Web addresses you've visited, on the History page
- Cached text of those pages
- Snapshots of those pages for images that appear on the New Tab page
- Any IP addresses tpre-fetched from those pages (learn more about DNS pre-fetching)
