According to many archaeologists, ancient astronaut theorists and main stream scientists, Earth was visited in the past by extra terrestrials with superior knowledge, forever changing the course of human history. What if it were all true? Many questions, theories and research has been brought up about this topic. As the awareness and curiosity of many individuals began to grow, a lot more government paid occupations had been created regarding this topic. New discoveries regarding such a topic have been exposed by fully researching in to it, asking the who, what, when, where, why and HOW. Many curious and bright minded individuals have come together to figure out such a mystery. There are many strong indications. But, in the end, what you believe is yours to decide.
Drawn into a high plateau in Peru’s Nazca Desert, a group of ancient designs stretching more than 50 miles has astounded archaeologists for decades. Along with simple lines and geometric shapes, drawings of animals, birds and humans have also been made, some measuring 600 feet across. From their colossal size, the drawings can only be viewed and appreciated from way up in the air – and there is no evidence that the Nazca people invented flying machines. According to ancient astronaut theorists, the figures were used as guidelines for spaceships as they came in for landing, and the lines served as runways.
Many Sanskrit stories, which were written in India more than two millennia ago, contain information about mythical flying machines called “Vimanas”. Comparing the similarities between descriptions of Vimanas and people who have observed UFO’s, ancient alien theorists have suggested that India was visited in the past by astronauts from other planets.
Ancient alien theorists believe that visitors from other planets helped humans build architectural wonders like Egypt’s Giza Pyramid. Not only is Giza an incredible feat of engineering for its time, but it lies at the intersection of the longest lines of latitude and longitude. How is this possible? Did the builders of the pyramids already understand the Earth was round and its dimensions?
Ancient alien theorists have pointed out that some ancient monuments demonstrate a thorough knowledge of astronomy surpassing knowledge of later cultures. The Pyramid of the Sun at Mexico’s Teotihuacan, lies at the center of a complex of pyramids, each aligned with a planet in the solar system.
The Sumerians are one the oldest civilizations known to man. The Sumerians believed they were created by the Annunaki, which was a group of E.T’s. The Sumerians believed the Annunaki came from the stars to planet earth to mine for gold. According to ancient myths, the Annunaki needed workers to mine for gold, so they genetically engineered and created the Sumerians (or humans).
From Southern Mexico, Pacal the Great ruled over the Mayan city of Palenque, during the seventh century. He was buried inside a pyramid called the Temple of Inscriptions. The intricately carved lid of his sarcophagus has become a classic work of Mayan art and also proof and evidence for ancient alien theorists. In their view, Pacal is pictured in a spaceship during takeoff, with his hand on a control panel, his foot on a pedal and an oxygen tube in his mouth.
These are Ancient Indian Epics that talk about a great battle with men in flying machines, nuclear like explosions and large powerful weapons. Written over 2000 years ago. Are they just a good story or did they witness something in the sky back then? There are also interesting parallels to this concept in the Bible.
Located in South America, in the Bolivian highlands, Puma Punku is a field of stone ruins scattered with enormous, finely carved blocks. Such precise workmanship on a massive scale would have been nearly impossible without modern tools and machines, yet the ruins are more than 1,000 years old. Ancient alien theorists have hypothesized that extraterrestrials with advanced engineering techniques created the site or advised the people who built it. The Stones of Pumu Punku are made up of granite and diorite, and the only stone harder is diamond. Not only were these stones really hard to cut, but they were also extremely heavy. One of these stones weighs 800 tons!
Invading armies of almost invincible power, incredible weaponry designed to intimidate and annihilate. During the second world war, Germany possessed the most technologically advanced military in the world. Weapons such as the jet aircraft, precision bombers and guided missiles, all designed to blitzkrieg along Europe. They developed the first cruise missile, the V1 buzz bomber and the V2 – the first ballistic missile. German scientists were the envy of the world, but what made them so advanced? Were they simply smarter than others? They were simply viewing ancient texts not as legendary myths, but as source of historical and scientific fact. The Nazi’s were the best oriental scholars in the world, so they translated ancient texts such as the Hindu Sanskrit in to German.
In 1939, German scientists invented their own flying saucer shaped aircraft and called it the “Haunebu”. When the Nazi party swept in to power in 1933, The Vril society encouraged Hitler and his henchmen to fund a world wide search of ancient alternative technologies. German scientists and researchers scoured the planet for ancient texts and relics, such as the holy grail and the arc of the covenant. Much more evidence points to the Nazi’s dealing with alien technology.
The Flower of Life was known around in ancient times, occurring in Temple of Osiris, Romania, Israel, China and many more places. Everything in the universe is Geometric, whether its people, trees, animals, planets, solar systems, stars, you name it. Everything in the universe comes out of this single pattern. The Metatrons cube forms from the Flower of life which forms the five platonic solids (Tetrahedron, Hexahedron, Octahedron, Dodecahedron, Icosahedron) which makes up the whole universe. Every element in the periodic table of elements has a geometric relation to one of the five platonic solids. So everything that modern science knows about elements and reality are tied together to the platonic solids, which comes from the Metatrons cube, which is formed from the fruit of life, which comes from the flower of life.
Weak list !!!
Nazca Lines? Disproven, anyone can make them. Look up Maree Man.
Pyramids? Longest lines of lat and longitude? For latitude that’s the equator. Pretty easy to figure out. Longitude is an artificial measurement centred on Greenwich in the UK. It could be ‘longest’ anywhere in the world, depends on who created it.
Sumerians knowing what ‘genetic engineering’ is? How the f*ck did the scholars translate that from ancient texts?
Puma Punka: sorry, wrong again. Diamond is the hardest MINERAL. Diorite and granite are rocks. They are pretty hard, sure, but they are hard because they have a lot of quartz (a mineral, and not nearly the hardest mineral), and the grains are interlocked tightly. People have been cutting granite for 1000′s of years. Tough work, but still done.
Mayan men riding spaceships with oxygen tubes in their mouths? So aliens have interstellar travel, but can’t build sealed flight cabins?
Weak list indeed. Never underestimate the power of human creativity and ingenuity. All ancients peoples had gods, demons, supernatural beings. Doesn’t mean they’re aliens. And people are smart. They can move large rocks and build big things if they have the manpower (slaves) and put some thought into it.
The Giza pyramids are on the longest latitude line that goes across land, the other latitude lines go mostly across water but the 30 degree line above the equator goes across the most land. The same goes for the longitude that crosses at Giza-30 degrees across mostly land.
Sounds more like a coincidence than anything. If the Egyptians had traveled hundreds or thousands of miles outside of their kingdom to build the pyramids on that specific point then it might have some meaning.
Exactly.
And for many of the other items on the list…People who lived hundreds and thousands of years ago were capable of using their imagination. The fact some of them believed in flying machines and space aliens only proves that humans have always had a vivid imagination.
humans made the nazca lines, no one is saying they didn’t. what was said is that humans made the nazca lines as landing strips for aliens, which is most likely not true. the nazca lines were most likely used for sprit walks, you walk the lines of your spirit animal.
They had the technology back then to make balloons that they could have gone up in to direct the people on the ground to make the lines. As you say, they were probably “landing strips” for local shaman to guide their spirit back down to earth when they’re hallucinating.
You wouldn’t even need a balloon to map out those lines, just divide the area into grids and complete each grid according to a preplanned gridded diagram
They could have made them for space aliens, but that still wouldn’t prove that aliens exist. My guess is that these lines were made as messages to their gods, no, not space aliens but rather the sun, the moon, and the stars.
You do know they’ve proven that the pyramids were built by paid workers right? I understand that wasn’t your point but I’m just saying.
800 tons though? i’m srry but i thourally feel bad for the slaves that had to move that
Agreed… it seems the author is just looking for “creepy facts” that can be put in and banking on the fact that the readers won’t cross-check the facts.
Ramayana: nowhere did it say “nuclear.” I know you said nuclear-like, but then what is nuclear like versus ordinary explosion? The epic text definitely didn’t say mushroom shaped cloud or anything like that. And please point me where the mushroom thing came in the Bible as well. Yes, explosions and great war and flying machines have been around in ancient texts, but even I imagined it in my dream when I was 3 before ever seeing an airplane.
Pacal: sorry but where’s the oxygen tube again? I’m looking at the picture and can’t even see which spaceships you’re talking about.
Flower of life: WRONG. There are 5 platonic solids because mathematically it’s the only solids with regular patterns. It’s not coincidence that all crystals follow one of those patterns. Please also cite where in those ancient texts that life originated from geometric-flower-like shapes? For all I know, it originated from a double helix, which is hardly geometric.
Seriously, people should just stop posting UFO and alien stuff until we actually meet one.
Word.
Not Impressed: I agree with everything you’ve said. Why is it so easy for some people to immediately jump to the conclusion that aliens were involved in the building of the pyramids, Puma Punku, etc, than admit that ancient man was a lot smarter and more resourceful than we give them credit for? Just because we can’t think of how these things were made, doesn’t automatically mean that aliens did it.
And as for the Nazis, even with ET’s supposed “help”, they still couldn’t win the war.
plus, people are smart enough to justify and make reasonable explanations for why they believe the things that they do, whether or not their reasoning is sound, scientific, or even based in reality.
i normally hate it when people say this, both because most of them haven’t written their own list and so have no idea how difficult it may be, and also because i think most of the list writers here try their best, but this time, i’m going to have to agree. there is so much more that could have been added, and every time i see a sentence that ends with “and many more” i feel like the author was being lazy. this especially on a topic that could have indeed had a lot more to offer, it just seems like some of the authors who have their lists published aren’t trying anymore. and i don’t mean to insult anyone, its just if you’re gonna write a list, put some effort into it, geez.
What would you include?
it depends. for example, i’ll use the fourth entry on the list:
” These are Ancient Indian Epics that talk about a great battle with men in flying machines, nuclear like explosions and large powerful weapons. Written over 2000 years ago. Are they just a good story or did they witness something in the sky back then? There are also interesting parallels to this concept in the Bible.”
for one thing, i would be a little more specific with what Ancient Indian Epics talk about these great battles. Maybe after that, provide an example or an excerpt from one of these epics translated into modern English where it is either implied or could be surmised that the authors are in fact talking about nuclear explosions or flying machines. And possibly provide the areas in the bible or the excerpt(s) that parallel those concepts. If he did that, you can see how that entry could be more informative.
I agree not a good list.
The intro paragraph is so poorly written that it made me want to throw up. This once again proves that Jamie Frater is horrible at editing!
Goatee metal rap, please say goodnight…
2nd!
***** LIST
LOL comment fail, I wanted to embed this image:

haha gotta love memes
Totally!

You’ve got the concept of Mahabharata and Ramyana out of proportion. They were all men, born and raised on Earth according to the stories. They did not fly machines, they were described as carriages. There was nothing mechanical about them, they were apparently magical. And yes there were explosions described in the stories but the weapons used aren’t some weapons of mass destruction. They were simply bows and arrows and swords, all apparently magical. Just like many of the gospels, these are just stories, there is no evidence behind them.
They are just stories to teach people moral lessons and entertain at the same time. Those weapons were probably some fire/explosive based weapons not nuclear. Even Hindus aren’t that deluded.
As much as I like reading about this sort of stuff, the list itself was rather weak; devoid of real content and not much in the way of evidence.
Agreed.
and it had such potential …
“Much more evidence points to the Nazi’s dealing with alien technology. ” Evidence? That would mean “evidence” according to Acient Alien theorists, not according to scientists and historians.
I’ve seen many documentaries and websites about Ancient Aliens, and it is indeed fascinating to me, since I’m an avid science-fiction reader. But it’s mainly just fun to watch, I don’t take it as fact and many of the Ancient Alien theories are either exagerated or easilly debunked. The more interesting ones are those stemming from ancient texts which do seem to describe space shuttles, space suits or other forms of modern technology… but that’s only if you read the texts with that in mind. It’s just theory.
This list seems to give too much credit to these non-scientific theories.
Best list ever.
It was kinda long to read, but well-worth it.
If you didn’t like it, its prolly because its way over your head.
So sick of pseudoscientists pretending to know more than trained scientists. Now to be fair the former do sometimes come up with some interesting ideas that have occasionally changed the world but please, show us some real, testable, verifiable, concrete evidence, not overload us with logical fallacies.
You seem to be confusing scientists with historian, but hey, I’m easy, I’m probably going to make some cous cous and just chill out.
It may have PROLLY been just suiting some one of your intelligence.
Oh sarcasm… How I love thy!
“I’m too stupid to do any actual science. Therefor I believe anything people who sound even remotely smarter than me say, I then go on to pretend I fully understand what their talking about. And then I even call other people dumb for not believing the same things I believe.” That’s basically what you just said.
This is a terrible and misguided list.
I wont dissect the entire list, as i dont have the time and i am sure it will be done by a poster soon. However, i will point out two things:
1. The points above (specifically about the Pyramids, Teotihuacan, and the Nazca lines) belittle ancient people and therefore ourselves as a species by presuming we couldnt have dont the above. We are a very bright, wonderful species with glorious mental gifts. To say we needed help is to undermine who our ancestors were, and so ourselves. We didnt need help from the stars to do the above, just our own ingenuity.
2. Lets try to educate people on history instead of trying to tie fantastic theories to what we can see.
And if someone should follow-up to my post with a “Keep your mind open!”, please read my first point. I am as open-minded as the next, but not at the expense of truth. Many of the above have been the centre of quack theories for a long time, and have been explained in purely engineering terms.
“We are a very bright, wonderful species with glorious mental gifts.”
You are a human, right? Because this doesn’t really fit the description of most humans…
You’re ignoring the fact that modern science has yet to solve how the pyramids were built with the technology that existed at the time as one example. There have been numerous attempts to ‘recreate’ the theorized construction techniques but all have ended in failure. What did they know that we still don’t? Is it as simple as just tools and technique or was there something else? I’m skeptical myself but when science fails, it opens up unconventional thinking to fill in the gap.
You are right. It seems so much more likely aliens came here built a bunch of stuff then went home. No reason at all for it. It is just easier to believe than some arabs could actually have a much better understanding of construction using materials available at their time than you. Grow up and realise the distance betwween the cultures.
egypt is in africa not arabia, but I’m cool with that, I’m probably going to make some pasta and put a film on.
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/03/080328104302.htm
http://www.catchpenny.org/howbuilt.html
It’s no mystery how they were built.
Probably, theorized, while others believe, suggested, many of us believe.
Just a few words used in the 1st link you quoted, still not certain are they?
It’s still just theorized because, as yet, nobody can go back in time to confirm it. The Egyptians (to continue the above examples) left us very little in the way of precise directions/diagrams for how they made the pyramids.
But to deny that humans could have possibly made the pyramids, with all the evidence we have that they did – tools in the quarries, sledges for moving the stones, ramps leading to the pyramids, the artwork showing people pulling the stones – is just kind of thoughtless.
Oh I agree Chal, but the poster I was answering did say “It’s no mystery how they were built.” It is still a mystery as like you say “nobody can go back in time to confirm it.” So for all we know, they could have got a group of one armed pygmies to build them!
Let me guess, you’re someone according to whom evolution is ‘just a theory’? Because this is on par with that. Just because scientists are reluctant to present something as a fact, doesn’t mean there’s much room for discussion.
Archaeologists and historians are quite sure the pyramids were built by humans, and not aliens. However, being scientists, they don’t exclude any other possible explanation, like aliens. That’s why they don’t present it as facts, but as educated guesses.
Armin, you said “It’s no mystery how they were built.” then go on to say “That’s why they don’t present it as facts, but as educated guesses.” Well it is still a partial mystery otherwise it would be a fact wouldn’t it?
And don’t surmise about me as you know nothing about me or my ideologies.
Venusbloo what he means is that it’s simply unscientific to say something is fact when you’re not 100% certain. And when we weren’t there to look at it, we can never be 100% certain, so it’s very unlikely scientists will ever call their theories of how the pyramids were built fact. An educated guess is the best we can do, we can look at the evidence. And there isn’t one piece of credible evidence that suggests ancient aliens helped build the pyramids.
What a racist statement. Most of the pseudoscientists who claim that the ancients couldn’t have built pyramids never make similar claims against Western feats of architecture. What, White people are smart enough not to require alien assistance?
Check out the author of “Chariots of the Gods”. He openly states that Western cultures are superior and didn’t require alien assistance. Racist bastard.
That could be because the building process of most Western feats of architecture were well documented and therefore there is no mystery surrounding their construction. The pyramids are much, much older and there aren’t the same written records. I’m not defending pseudo-scientists, as you call them, and I haven’t read “Chariots of the Gods” so the author could be as racist as you say, I’m just saying that there could be other reasoning by theorists besides racism. Also, Stonehenge is often attributed to aliens and that’s part of the Western world, right? I think it has more to do with the age and not with who built it. Generally, the older the structure the less written documentation and therefore more room for alien theories.
How is that a racist comment? Either you’re an intellectual dwarf or are just blabbering. It’s a speculative comment, as in, we have theories of how these pyramids were built however no definitive proof. They tag “alien influence” on nearly anything that is considered advanced for the time. Take a look at the history of the SR-71 Blackbird for example. I guess us “white folk” couldn’t have possibly came up with such a fascinating aircraft, could we? It’s the same thing with the pyramids. Nothing to do with the race or culture of the people who built them, it’s merely the definite answer of How. Some people say aliens, others say large amounts of people (which is the most probable), and some say potentially one armed pygmies. Quite frankly, I say who gives a damn, they are there and unfortunately we’re probably not going to learn much from them other than the ability to build large pyramid shaped buildings with primitive technology.
I don’t know of any experiment trying to recreate the pyramids using a whole damn army of people (numbering in what, tens of thousands, probably) – and that’s exactly how they did it. The rulers said they must build it, they started building it – it’s not like they finished a pyramid in a couple of years, either – it took a decade or more to build one. Don’t underestimate a man with an idea and the means to accomplish it…
As a weak example, my granddad used to make windows and doors out of trees – complete processing from cutting down the trees to creating the complete item, using NO NAILS (they were also replaced by long, cone-shaped pieces of wood) and only hand tools – and the end products are still in great shape after 60+ years now – just imagining the whole process makes me think they were nuts back then, but then again, no TV or even electricity does wonders for productivity…
Yes. There are some things that just don’t deserve an open mind anymore. They have been throughly disproven. Like astrology.
I think the author isn’t saying that aliens made the Nazca lines its just what is the point in making them if you can’t see what it is unless you fly?
This list isn’t very good. Aside from the nonsense subject, the entries were too short and not very informative. It would be more interesting to see those theories explained a bit more. Now it’s all very minimalistic.
Also, the first entry doesn’t fit with the general subject: there’s no mention of aliens.
Furthermore, the first sentence of the introduction seems very unlikely to me. Many, of course, isn’t a very specific word, but I still find it hard to believe many archaeologists and mainstream scientists believe these theories.
As for the Nazca-lines and the Piramids of Giza, both those things have been reproduced using only contemporary knowledge and techniques.
The ones about mythology allegedly describing alien encounters are based on wishful thinking: the ancient alien theorists see aliens, precisely because they want to see aliens. People coming from above is a common cliché in mythology, so there are bound to be some tales that can be interpreted as alien contact.
Anyhow, for everyone who believes this: put your aluminium hat back on, and take your pills.
You know, the problem I have with this list is that it could have been presented differently, instead of all the miss informed theorys.
The problem with some of these theorys about ancient civilisations and things like the pyramids & nazca lines is that to assume they must have had some kind of help from aliens is highly ignorant to the ability the people of these ancient civilisations must have had.
aliens must exist but them visiting earth a few thousand years ago is just a stupid far cry.
“but it lies at the intersection of the longest lines of latitude and longitude. ”
There was I thinking that the pyramids are in Egypt, well north of the equator, (the longest line of latitude).
“but it lies at the intersection of the longest lines of latitude and longitude”… Wow !!! That’s one of the stupidest things I ever read !!!
Yes, and I’d like to know which one is the longest line of longitude…
I would like to know that too! That alone throws all credibility of this list out the window for me. “Longest line of longitude” indeed.
I know. That’s like me saying that I own the world’s longest yardstick. Sheesh.
Good concept, but the wording and information didn’t make it a very good list for me. To me your wording made it seem as you sort of believe that aliens were responsible for all or most of these. I may be wrong and you might have just worded it weird, but me believing that you believe this, wouldn’t it have been more likely to assume that certain people are just hard workers, have good imaginations, or are just good inventors. That seems more likely. Take NASA Apollo technology for example. Not much was written down and it is almost lost. A few thousand years later people like you are gonna say it was aliens. Either way, you might not actually believe all this “the aliens helped” stuff, but your wording of the list strongly implies that at least.
Nasa apollo technology was almost lost? Can i have some of your shrooms?
Not completely insane – much of the information regarding the construction of the Apollo rockets as well as the missions was recorded onto very old computer storage formats. Due to incompatibilities between the old hardware and modern computers, as well the formats the files are in as well, the files can’t be read. There’s no software that can emulate the old computers and read the files either.
It’s not surprising when you think that all this went down during the cold war. Everything would have been shrouded in such secrecy. There’s no information available on the software used by NASA at the time, so we’re left trying to reverse-engineer it using the very files we want to read with it.
Well i won’t try to pretend im an expert in huge aeronautical or engineering projects. But I assume a lot of that data became obsolete. A lot was replaced with new data.
I found a very interesting article http://www.linux.com/news/software/developer/29068-apollo-11-story that would contradict your “shrouded in mystery” idea. A lot of students (mit for example) worked on these projects. And it’s well known that even during the cold war contractors worked with nasa in building of the shuttles.
If apollo construction data isnt easily available (in too lazy to find out if that’s true) it is just because it’s useless to do that. Their mission is useless nowadays.
Enter your alien comment here. Thanks, Kaylene. I once read that millions of photos from various missions are also lost and were never viewed. PROBABLY nothing of importance on them, but…
All these are repeated on listverse, About Aliens its all about ur belief, what u think. If u think its true then it is, if u think its not it isn’t. We have never seen electricity so if u think u cannot believe it then put ur finger into a switched board, then I’m sure u’ll believe. There are trillions of stars in the universe if each star has its own planet like our sun just imagine the number. And also its said that there is more than 1 universe. It would be foolish to say that we are the only living being in the universe. Think about it
“U’r” not Prince dude, please stop.
What the hell are you talking about? Reality doesn’t give a crap whether you believe something or not. Reality is NOT subjective. Things either are true, or they aren’t. You either believe things for good reasons, i.e. evidence. Or for bad reasons, i.e. because someone told you to. Nobody’s arguing we’re the only living beings in the universe. People are arguing that there’s no good evidence whatsoever that supports the hypothesis that ancient aliens visited planet earth many years ago.
pic no 9 remind me of Laputa
Heheheheh. Yes. Yes it does.
I am disappointed
Delete this list, please…
I have heard of all of these except for numbers one through four. The subject matter is intriguing but it has been published to death over the past few decades. I still recall the “Ancient Astronauts” and “Ancient Mysteries” TV specials from the early ’70s and have read “Chariots of the Gods”. Not a bad list, but it really isn’t that good either.
…
Aliens were responsible for those things!?
Darn. I always thought it would be time travelers from the distant future gone back to make sure the past played out as it should!
But, nah, aliens makes much more sense. Right?
Mahabharata and Ramyana is a fight about Rama and Ravana. The fight begin because Ravana kidnaped Rama’s wife Seta and Fled to Sri Lanka because Ravana is a king and also a god in who lived in sri lanka. Someone in my country (my country is Sri Lanka) discoverd that Ravana And Rama are both aliens and the carriages that Ravana is riding which can fly is called Dadumonara and it is said to be an aircarft created by the Chief God and gave it to Ravana with foreseeing the future technology.I love this list keep up the good work.
Ramayana is the story of Rama and Ravana. Mahabharata is a whole different story and doesn’t involve Rama at all.
And it is “Ramayana” not “Ramyana” as the list says.
Mahabharat takes place long time after Ramayan. In Kalyug. Ramayan took place in Satyug. Valmiki wrote Ramayan and Ved Vyas wrote Mahabharat. Krishna is the protagonist of Mahabharat and Ram is the protagonist of Ramayan. Both are way different with no connection whatsoever save only for the fact that both Krishna and Ram are incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
Ram and Ravana were “aliens” and someone “discovered” it?! Who “discovered” it and on what basis if I may dare to ask?
Dude, you are living in a different world altogether, maybe from a different dimension.
Mahabharata doesn’t take place in Kalyug, it takes place in Dvaparyug. Ramayana takes place in Tretayug. Kalyug is the period going on now.
C’mon… Is that all the info you could gather about those topics? For most of the topics I could write a whole book about (figure of speech..). Very, very, very poor list indeed with close to NO information what so ever.
I’m studying archaeology at the moment and highly doubt “many” would support these theories.
It wouldn`t surprise me about Nazis and Aliens. But Nazis did have flying saucers.. And I don`t like Nazis, but they did have some cool inventions. And if weren`t for Nazis, we wouldn`t have landed on the Moon.
Isn’t the majority of this list not mysteries but simply part of what conspiracy theorists wholly believe and think is true. Plus some of these have been explained.
Actually, no. It’s a compilation of theories floating around the community of ancient alien theorists. Some may believe some of them; there are probably a few who don’t believe much of it at all but do believe we may have been visited by aliens long ago. I think most people would just like to know the truth. But, since it’s well-nigh impossible to actually DISPROVE most of this, unless aliens show up and tell us they did all this, we’ll never know.
As for “explained:” The natural tendency for any odd occurence is to come up with standard expllanation. This is usually so deficient, because it’s made up quickly without all the facts, that someone has to come up with something else. Thatl’s where the supernatural elements usually come in. If people would just wait for all the evidence, most things have a ho-hum explanation, but the people who want that the most are the ones who open the door to the strange and wierd by being unable to say, “I don’t know.”
FrankRivers; I second that! Please delete this list! I thought listverse actually cared about the content that was put on here. Worst list I have come across. Sure, there are other lists that I might not like, but that is only because the subject might not interest me (yesterday’s list),but at least those lists are created by people who take pride and care in what they research. This list is utter rubbish. Poorly wriiten. Lazily researched. Horribly presented.
Wanted more
but just thought id point out two things regarding the Egyptian pyramids. Firstly, yes they did know that the earth was round, and also knew its size – we still use the ancient Egyptian techniques to demonstrate it. Secondly, we HAVE managed to recreate a likely technique that they used to build the pyramids, with success. sometimes people forget the massive scale of time and manpower that went in to building these marvels, and as someone pointed out above, its a little condescending to say this superpower of the time was incapable of accomplishing the task.
Also, ‘many scientists?’
Yes but what were they for as a Pharaoh has never been found in one?
Most of the pyramids were probably emptied by robbers centuries ago.
One of my aunties probably had le$bian s£x with Queen Victoria…she didn’t though.
Nobody knows 100% what the pyramids were for.
You idiot. http://www.williamtolan.com/fno/EGYPT/story5.htm Grave robbery was prevalent in ancient Egypt. I’d like to see you cite a credible source.
3rd paragraph up from the bottom of the page http://www.catchpenny.org/whybuilt.html “Much has been made of the fact that of all the pyramids of Egypt that have ever been explored, never once has the mummy of a pharaoh been found within.”
2nd paragraph from the bottom…”To suppose that the pyramid’s only function in ancient Egypt was as a royal tomb,” wrote Miroslav Verner, “would be an oversimplification.”
Ha, you’re a simpleton!
“According to many archaeologists, ancient astronaut theorists and main stream scientists, Earth was visited in the past by extra terrestrials with superior knowledge, forever changing the course of human history.”
OK, which archaeologists and mainstream scientists say the Earth was visited in the past by extra-terrestrials? Any sources for that, or are you just stating bollocks?
What a terrible list – sort it out Listverse…
The knives are out SgtCuddles, the knives are out …..
Long time reader, first time commenter.
Crap list.
Wow! There are items on here that other lists debunk outright as myths! This list is horrible, but #1 is exceptionally atrocious as it is wholly unrelated to ancient aliens. Also, it’s being treated like a religion here but under the auspices of science, yet there is no skepticism and no indication that any research was done (aside a trip to some 2012 conspiracy sites).
Swing…and a miss. I award you 0 points and may god have mercy on your soul.
Hated the list it was a load of trash . But on a good note loved the comments
.
Especially the post about the Nazis bugs me. They were a political party, not some sci-fi supervillains, as the article suggests. Even if Hitler was obsessed with otherwordly stuff (I don’t know about that), no serious scientist in Nazi Germany would have believed in that ***** about aliens or ancient superweapons. Looks like you watched too much Indiana Jones.
A little study of history would change your comment
“According to many archaeologists, ancient astronaut theorists and main stream scientists, Earth was visited in the past by extra terrestrials with superior knowledge, forever changing the course of human history.”
I get the part about the ancient astronaut theorists, but the archaeologists and mainstream scientists bit? HARDLY. Those people dismiss the so-called “Ancient Astronaut Theory” as pure nonsense. And you said this is is entitled “10 More Ancient Alien Mysteries”. Then where’s the original list? You should just at least put a link up there. And I don’t think there WAS an original “Ancient Alien Mysteries” list.
Also this “Ancient Astronauts Theory” is just pure nonsense. It’s just an excuse for people to view people from ancient civilizations as lazy.
This list is a total fail, not just on subject but also on organization, continuity, research… heck this list shows you how NOT to do a Listverse list…
Not too bad of a list.
I don’t believe the whole aliens helping humanity mumbo-jumbo but am amazed at what the ancient people were able to build. If you look close, you can see a bottle rocket in the mayan kings anus!
ON TO WIKIPEDIA!
I can’t understand the #1 entry – it reads like a fanatic’s argument at a bad party. But hey, I might be the slow one…
People building things without modern tools? Clearly it must have been aliens
bad list..really bad list. I thought this is going to be a good read, apparently, I was wrong.
the list said “the only stone that is harder than granite and diorite is diamond” not “granite and diorite are the only stone that are harder than diamond” lol
Copied and pasted directly from alienswerehere.com
Thanks. I let Jamie know.
What? Are u serious? Two sentences until number two- which seems to be the only thing you actually know about this list. Number one- how does that relate to aliens?? Also- where’s the other evidence the Nazis looked into ancient texts? Just bcuz u say it doesn’t man I believe u. Terribl list, written by what seems to be a 3rd grader, or a highs school drop out. No real knoledge is shared. it’s just pictures and a sentence. Also on a side note… ***** TYPING ON IPODS
Great list. How was it the Egyptians knew exactly where to build the pyramids to match longitude and latitude? As well as all the other incredible accomplishments in architecture, astronomy, engineering and construction of civilizations around the world. Either they knew things we have forgotten, or they had help. Maybe both?
They could even see the future, because they foresaw the creation of longitudes and latitudes, and they knew exactly where humans some 4000 years later would place those largely subjective lines.
Now, that’s impressive.
People will believe in anything. Also this list let a lot to be desired. Most of this is made up, debunked or myth taken as truth.
Remaining skeptical. Not a good list today.
Well sure theys maybe or maybe not real, But I still belive that were not the only species with this level of intelligents especially in a universe that has hundreds upon hundreds of galaxys and universe thats still expanding to this day. But of course your entitled to your opinon like everyoe else.
Oh I know we aren’t alone…but none of the above is real. Debunked and made up stuff. For intelligent life out there…they KNOW to avoid us.
same old… same old…
no offense to the writer but was he/she even trying? i was just such a disappointment considering the topic was a great one. and each column was very short and lame why would you publish this list
While I like the idea of alien visitors thousands of years ago, its far more likely that ancient peoples had an understand of astronomy, physics and calculus long before Europeans ‘discovered” such things.
Mainstream scientists? (opening blurb). As a new commenter, I am wondering if lists actually get thrown in the bin, or do all lists submitted eventually get published, no matter how ridiculous they are.
its getting hard to tell.
This is really fun to read! Still, I just watched a TV segment on ancient aliens, and two things stand out. First, nobody seems to consider the fact that just because something was built to be seen from the air DOESN’T MEAN ANYTHING WAS UP THERE. It just means that the people BELIEVE something was.
And also, never underestimate the ingenuity and willingness for hard work of humans, no matter how ancient they were, especially when they’re motivated by religion. I feel like ancient astronaut theorists don’t give humans enough credit.
A very weak list that seems to be hastily put together just to have something up on Listverse. There is no supporting documentation written with each entry. The entries could be right out of Erich von Däniken’s book on ancient astronauts.
I assume that Listverse wants to be a reputable information source and I suggest that you stay away from sensationalized lists in the future. I just cannot believe that this list made it on here.
I knew once I saw number 10 that this wouldn’t go very well.
10 MORE? naah, these are just the 10..
Enter your extraterrestrial comment here.
I quickly understand you’re just presenting some common ideas here and I didn’t really
expect any serious attempt at sources or “proof.” However, you should have been a little more circumspect. I’ve seen documentaries on some of these phenomena and accredited scientists, I believe including geologists, were featured. But to say “many” scientists believe this… try saying “some scientists” believe these things.
To clear up a couple of misapprehensions: Hitler WAS deeply involved in the supernatural, and some Nazi scientists DID search for ancient technology that would lead to super-weapons. AND there was an earlier list on Ancient Aliens.
I realizze you sometimes fell pressured to complete a list in a hurry, Sgt., but this could have been quite a bit better. But much of the blame goes to the commentors. With a crowd that’s lively, alert and here to enjoy almost any list can lead to a great discussion. This one just led to a miserable gripe-fest.
I didn’t know Erich von Däniken was a contributor of Listverse.
Actually, this list started with GREAT potential.
“According to many archaeologists, ancient astronaut theorists and main stream scientists”
If you could just list some of those main stream scientists that believe aliens did any of these things this list would have vaulted to the “super informative” status!
This list is too American
The real mystery is why people get so *****ed off when the topic of aliens is ever brought up on this site.
I’m pretty sure not that many here are complaining that the list is about aliens.. I found maybe two or three comments that seemed pretty neutral, 1 or 2 that seemed positive, though they might have been trolls, and almost every other comment relates to how this list lacks substance, sources, common sense, research, and that it was copied from a conspiracy website.
I sincerely hope that there just weren’t any other submissions, because if this list beat out another potential list for today’s spot, I really have lost all hope in humanity.
rapoc yI find this incredibly disappointing by comparison to the first list. the last one didn’t even involve aliens and wasn’t based in fact; it claimed modern reality & element science is based off a flower. Why can’t Listverse be more like Cracked? After Cracked got a re-boot it got even better, in my opinion.
Hi, I don’t know whether this is true, but I’ve just spent the last hour researching the Haunebu project. There seems to be a lot of creative info on this, and claims that base 211 (Antarctica) is where some of them ended up after the war. Could be plausable, certainly possible – worth the read of this list just to discover this part. However, by saying some flying discs were invented by the Nazis, the list author is achnowledging these things are in fact man-made after all… not ancient alien mysteries.
Aside from this being true or not (I honestly don’t believe it) I really want to download the image of
Pacal’s Sarcophagus to use it as my iPods background it’s amazing!!!;)
