Montblanc unveiled the "Prince Rainier III Limited Edition 81" at a charity gala event at the Monte Carlo Sporting Club in which, Prince Albert II of Monaco, was the special guest-of-honor. As its name suggests, this skeletonized fountain pen is limited to only 81 pieces. Made in honor of the late Prince Rainier III, the 18-carat white gold pen is adorned with 996 diamonds and 92 rubies cut in the shape of lozenges to resemble the Grimaldi coat of arms of the Principality of Monaco.
Rubies also decorate the clip ring on the pen cap and the finely
engraved 18-carat gold nib. A small crown derived from Prince Rainier’s
signet decorates the clip on the pen cap. Priced at a hefty 200,000
euros, half of the sales revenue from each pen will go to the
‘Foundation Princess Grace”. Started in 1964, the Foundation provides
monetary support and scholarships in the nurturing of young talents in
the areas of music, art and dance.
