Informed consent is essential for medical or surgical treatment. However, it may be difficult for patients to understand the details of surgical procedures, because most patients do not know the organ anatomy. So, patients occasionally undergo the surgery without completely understanding what is being done.
With this issue in mind, we have created 3D-animations of surgery (OpeAnime). OpeAnime is useful for explaining the surgical procedures. OpeAnime is a joint effort of Media Glue Corporation, National Cancer Center Hospital East and Takashi Kawai Laboratory, GITS, Waseda University.
In addition to 3D-animation images, information about the diseases and surgical procedures is also important for patients.
