I have nothing to complain about this Italeri's kit.
I imagined that look like a Revell/Monogram's 1/48 scale kit when I opened package of this kit.
But, became aware to other factor soon. It have fine moldings, real outlines, sufficient details, and controled partition.
It seems to me that the Jet Air Intake's expression was best of 1/72 scale ( Fujimi's and Hasegawa's are wide ).
Moreover, wings can fold, that is Italeri's only, in all A-6's kits.
However, It has a few problems as follows.
- Omitted Air Intake duct's inside.
- Outside pylon's position incorrect shifted ( Those should be near fold line ).
- Shifted position of inside wing fences( same as Revell/Monogram ).
- Cockpit seat layout( B/N's need few retreat) .
But those problems are easy to recover .
Tried detail update.
I abandoned repairing for cockpit-seat and air-intake's problem this time.
Moved outside pylon to the correct position, and the wing-fences are replaced to new self made parts on correct place. Added Brake-pipes to the main gears.
Re-built an AFT-Air-Intake and air-exhaust
Replaced exhaust nozzle by self made parts from aluminum pipe.( Also, those detailings are points of Revell's 1/48 kit. ).
To Finish
Maybe you learnt already about the Boeing wing and this kit's wings are not theirs.
It's to mean that you can not build straight as last type Intruder.
I also chose the VA-196's markings which was applied to Revell's kit.
I used Super Scale Decal(#72-495). But, That sheet's letter of modex-number is incorrect , they were just like a Air-Force's letter.
I did rake up some Number-bits from other sheets..
