PSP Custom Firmware 6.20 and 6.35 PRO-B5 Released *Updated*

greg | April 20, 2011

Liquidzigong and Coldbird are back for the fifth round — it’s PSP Custom Firmware 6.20 and 6.35 PRO-B5, compatible with all PSP models, should your PSP be running OFW 6.20 or 6.35. Install either or and everything Sony denies you, PRO-B5 grants you. The complete PRO CFW feature list is huge — so huge we had to list it on the download page. (more…)

PSP Custom Firmware 6.38 ME Released

greg | April 13, 2011

If you’re a PSP-2000 owner and want the absolute latest in official firmware, yet you wish to keep ISOs and [unsigned] homebrew functional, then I reckon you check out neur0n’s latest CFW: 6.38 ME v1. But before you do that — make sure your Pandora battery and magic memory stick is on standby — “the degree of stability is unknown at this time.” (more…)

PSP Custom Firmware 6.20/6.35 PRO-B4 Released

greg | April 9, 2011

Put your hands together for Liquidzigong and Coldbird’s PSP Custom Firmware 6.35 PRO-B4! And not only that: 6.20 PRO-B4, which lets you permanently patch said CFW into flash memory. The perma-patch is only 6.20 — 6.35 does not allow for that. But then again you can always downgrade 6.35 to 6.20 if you prefer permanence (and if your PSP isn’t a 9g). Serious changes have been packed into PRO-B4 and the change log below details all that. (more…)

PSP Custom Firmware 6.35 PRO-B3 Released

greg | March 12, 2011

First, my heart goes out to all the families who’ve lost their loved ones in Japan. Second, Virtuous Flame, aka Liquidzigong, has released 6.35 PRO-B3, and again no change log accompanies this release, so I’m not sure what’s changed exactly. Leave a comment if you know. Otherwise get updated because it’s probably for the best.

POC: Permanent CFW/HEN is Possible

greg | March 7, 2011

In a recent experiment kgsws set out to find permanence for CFW installs… And the result: success! Winning like Chuck Sheen, kgsws has shared a proof-of-concept; however, I’d only attempt this on a FAT PSP-1000 handheld until further notice. (more…)

Who’s Running What Now?

greg | March 5, 2011

With the recent flurry of custom firmwares (and homebrew enablers) I’m curious to know who’s running what… There are 3 major players in the game: neur0n, Liquidzigong and Total_Noob. So I ask: What are you running and how’s that working for you? (more…)

PSP CFW 6.35 PRO-B2 Released

greg | March 4, 2011

And you thought it was 6.20 TN-D, maybe next post. Liquidzigong and Coldbird release PSP Custom Firmware 6.35 PRO-B2, which is served as an update only. So first you should install PSP OFW 6.35, then CFW 6.35 PRO-B, then this B2 update. It’s compatible with all PSP models. What’s new? No idea… Probably bug fixes and whatnot. The cited source does not detail any of that and there is no read me included. Holler if you know. (more…)

CFW Update: 6.35 and 6.37 ME w/ PS1 Support

greg | March 3, 2011

Hacking with neur0n will now get you “converted” PS1 support. But the catch, and you already know this — this custom firmware, both CFW 6.35 v15 and 6.37 ME v4, is for PSP-2000 non-v3 models only. Run this first and make sure you’re not sporting a TA-088v3 inside. It’s also recommended your Pandora battery is on standby … but again you knew that. (more…)

PSP Custom Firmware 6.35 PRO-B Released

greg | February 24, 2011

Liquidzigong (and Coldbird? or is that another alias?) has released PSP Custom Firmware 6.35 PRO-B, which improves on PS1 support. No longer are you confined to PSN downloaded PS1 games — any PS1/PSX game, however you managed to obtain it, *should* boot and play without issues. And also added is support for Memory Stick Micro (M2) on the PSPgo. So get updated!

  • More improvements to the recovery menu code.

v1.52 CHANGELOG

  • ~ This is so TN users with flash protection enabled will still be able to use most of the app.
  • + Improved loading the Recovery Menu.
  • ~ Still won't work on GEN Firmwares...
v1.51 CHANGELOG
  • The logo now has a really nice fade in/out effect.
  • Pressing square now shows a short description of the selected plugin (as requested). You can press square again to add your own description if one isn't found. This is done Line-By-Line, and leaving a line empty ends the description.
  • You can now load the Recovery Menu from the Config Page. ('cause I'm running out of buttons xD) ~ Note that exiting the Recovery Menu will exit the app.
  • General optimizations.

  • Put back the plugin addition confirmation.
  • You can now scroll fast in the pop-up menu as well.
  • New option that hides the plugin path.

    • You can only select a ".prx" file to add
    • The controls are pretty simple, up/down to scroll through items, cross to select an item, and circle to close the browser
v1.2b2 CHANGELOG
  • Now only loads up to 20 plugins per .txt file. I'm pretty sure that this is the PSP's limit, if not, deal with it
  • Added ability to copy and paste plugins between .txt files
  • Added ability to disable requiring the password
    • This is OFF by default; You will need to make a password, then turn it on
  • Added support for multiple "themes"
    • Added ability to select theme in the config editor
      • Themes are sorted alphabetically with the exception of the default, which is always first
      • Theme format is now RxxxGxxxBxxx instead of a LUA color definition
  • Scrolling past the final plugin or option will reset to the first. Scrolling back past the first will reset to the last.
  • Reverted UI changes to the menu. Selected options are highlighted like they used to be instead of showing a ">"
  • Some other changes I don't feel like listing
May 18Nazi Zombies Portable v1.0 BETA
The NZ:P Dev team's "Nazi Zombies Portable" for PSP. It's the Call of Duty: World at War zombie game re-crafted using the Quake engine.
Nazi Zombies: Portable is a zombie survival shooter for the PlayStation Portable and any Windows machine. You start out at Round 1, where few zombies will come. After you kill the full wave of zombies, it will switch off to Round 2 where more zombies will come. The longer you survive, the harder it gets. You get points for rebuilding barricades, damaging zombies, knifing zombies, etc. The points can then be used to open doors, buy perks, buy weapons off the walls, and use the Mystery Box. The Mystery Box is a box where you pay 950 points in exchange for a random weapon, it ranges from a pistol to a killing machine. If your playing multiplayer, you use teamwork and tactics to survive the onslaught. Stick together to survive.
