Ending 1 - Sanae

	――幻想郷の境界にある博麗神社。	---The Hakurei Shrine, at the border of Gensokyo.
	夏の暑さが神社の緑と黒のコントラストを高めている。 蝉が鳴かなければ現実感を失い、思考を停止させていただろう。 何も考えない事、無機物には容易いが、人間には難しい。	The summer heat has drawn out the contrast between the green and black of the shrine. If the cicadas stopped chirping, reality falter, and bring about a state beyond thought? A state of thoughtlessness is easy for inanimate things, but very difficult for humans.
Marisa	おーい、この新聞見たか？	Heeey, Reimu! Have you seen the paper?
Reimu	今見てる。 山空大将棋第四十七日目って	I'm reading it now. "The Great Mountain Sky Shogi Tournament Reaches its 47th Day," hm?
Marisa	ああ、そんな勝負付かない将棋見たってしょうがないぜ。 この間も千日手になってるのに気付かず何日も繰返してたしな。 そこじゃなくてこれだよ、この記事	Oh, I guess you *would* be reading about that endless shogi game. They get so caught up in the endless moves that they don't even notice the days passing around them. But that's not what I meant. Read this article!
Reimu	未来水妖バザー、 河童による発明品から尻子玉まで、秘蔵品を安価で大放出	The Water Youkai Bazaar of the Future A huge number of kappa inventions for sale, cheap, from shirikodama to rare treasures.
Marisa	なんか面白そうじゃないか。行ってみないか？ 掘り出し物が見つかるかも知れないぜ	Doesn't it sound interesting? Do you want to go? We might find a real bargain there!
Reimu	どうかなー。 河童の発明品って生臭そうだし	I don't know... Anything the kappa make probably smells like fish.
Marisa	そんな事は無いがな	Oh come on, that's not true!
Reimu	それに何のアピールなのかしら？ 急にバザーなんて始めたりして	I wonder why they're doing it? Why would they suddenly start up a bazaar?
Marisa	資金不足なんじゃないか？ 核融合炉の維持費で	Maybe they need the money? To maintain that nuclear core of theirs.
Reimu	それなら良いんだけどねぇ。 あ、巨大人形の事が書かれているわ	Well, that might be nice... Huh? There's something written about a giant human.
Marisa	どれどれ。 『ついに巨大妖怪型自動操作人形　非想天則、見参』 『非想天則は遠くから見えるので、それを目指して来場すると良いだろう』	Where, where? "See the first appearance of the huge, youkai-style, autonomous doll, the Hisou Tensoku." "The Hisou Tensoku is visible from far away. Just head right toward it if you want to see."
Reimu	売り物じゃないのかな	It doesn't look like it's for sale.
Marisa	買うつもりなのか？ 記事を見た感じただの目印らしいが	Why, did you want to buy it? It looks more like a landmark from the picture!
Reimu	試験中見てたけど、結構リアルな動きだったわよ？ どうやって動かしているのかな	I wonder if it's a test. Is it really moving by itself? *Something* has to be controlling it.
Marisa	さあな。 糸で操るには大きすぎるが……	Who knows? It's too big to be controlled by strings...
Reimu	いいなぁ……	Huh. How interesting...
	――新しく山の上に存在することとなった神社。守矢神社。 山の上は夏でも涼しく、麓の苦悩を嘲笑っているかのようだった。 ここには二柱の神と一人の……神が居た。	---The new shrine at the top of the mountain, the Moriya Shrine. The mountaintop is cool even in summer, as if to spite the weather at the base of the mountain. Here there are the two Pillar Gods and... Well, another god.
Suwako	……非想天則はさ、ただの河童のアドバルーンなのよ。 でもリアルな動きでしょう？	... And so the Hisou Tensoku is really just an advertisement for the kappa! But I wonder if you can really call it autonomous?
Sanae	無駄なリアルさですよ。 私はてっきり巨大なロボットかと	...It's couldn't be. I was so sure that it was a giant robot...
Kanako	ふーん。そんなの作ってたんだねぇ。 私に任してくれればもっと実用的な物を設計したのに	Hmph. So they made something like that? If it was up to me, I would have had them make something much more *practical.*
Suwako	私は、実用かどうかより、何も思考しない方が動きがリアル って事だけを考えて作るように言ったんだ。 河童の設計も見事だよ。見事に中身が空っぽだし	Well, I wasn't thinking about practicality... I was wondering if you can really call it "autonomous" if it moves without any thought at all. But the kappas inventions are incredible! It's totally hollow inside!
Sanae	何にも思考しない？ それにどういう意味が……	Without any thought? What does that mean?
Kanako	なるほど。 勝手に自我を持たれたら困ると	...I see. It would be problematic if it had a mind of its own.
Suwako	そう、あんなでかいもん付喪神になられたら困るでしょう？ 意味のある動きを繰返すとそこに思考が生まれる、 それがいずれ付喪神になってしまう。 だから、何も考えない人形を作る必要があった	Right! If something like that became an Artifical God it'd be a real problem! If it was moving with purpose for long enough, that would create *thought*, and turn it into an Artificial God. That's why it's important to create a doll that cannot think of anything.
Sanae	そう言うことですか。 でもどうやってあのリアルな動きを再現したのですか？	Is that what you meant? Then how is it managing to move by itself?
Suwako	勿論、核の力だね	It's nuclear powered, of course!
Sanae	核って何でもありなんですか？ いまいち、核の力が何なのか判ってないんですよねぇ	Is it safe to use nuclear power for this...? I don't really understand nuclear power very well, but...
Kanako	核の力は実は光に過ぎないよ。 だた、その光量が余りにも膨大なだけ。 巨大人形を動かすのは結局、何か別のエネルギーに変えているんでしょ？ 熱とか電気とか……	Nuclear power is really nothing more than the power of light. But that power really is far too powerful for this. Shouldn't we change the giant's power source to something else? Maybe to heat, or to electricity...
Suwako	あれはねー。 間欠泉の蒸気を利用して動いているだけだよ。 蒸気の勢いが増せば腕が上がり、収まればうなだれる	Oh, no no no! It's only powered by the steam coming out of the geyers! The power of the steam makes it raise its arms! When it stops, it collapses!
Sanae	それってただの……	...Then... that's all it is...?
Kanako	気球みたいなもんね	It sounds like a giant balloon.
Suwako	見事なまでに、空っぽでしょ？ 非想天則	I said it was impressive because it's empty, didn't I? So it's "One Unknowing of the Celestial Laws!"
Sanae	私はてっきり、巨大なロボと戦うハメになるのかと	And here I thought I was going to get stuck fighting a giant robot...
Suwako	早苗の場合は、戦うんじゃなくて乗りたかった、でしょ？	But Sanae, you're not supposed to fight giant robots! You're supposed to ride them!
Sanae	い、良いじゃないですか。 巨大人型ロボは人類の夢ですよ	T-that would be nice, I guess... Giant Robots are one of humanity's dreams, after all...
Kanako	人間を集める為の人形。 幻想郷の妖怪だってきっと気になってるかもね。 河童は商売上手ねぇ	A giant human for the sake of gathering humans. The youkai of Gensokyo will love it, I'm sure. The kappa are very good salesmen.
Suwako	私が指示したんだけどね	It's becuase it was my idea!
	この夏、山の麓で行われた未来水妖バザーは大成功した。	And on that summer, the Water Youkai Bazaar of the Future was a great and roaring success.
	河童が作った発明品の数々や、ピカピカに磨かれた尻子玉は、	The many new inventions of the kappa, and the shirikodama, polished until they were sparkling...
	興味のある人の手に渡っていったようである。	It seemed like many people came to purchase these.
	でもやはり、一番の目玉は非想天則であった。	But, of course, the biggest attraction was the Hisou Tensoku.
	この動きだけはリアルな巨大人形を一目見ようと、数多くの人間、妖怪が訪れた。	Many youkai and humans alike came to steal a glance at the giant, autonomously moving giant.
	霊夢も魔理沙も、この巨大人形を見て満足したようである。	Even Reimu and Marisa came to see the giant, and were pleased with what they saw.
	人間は何も考えない事は難しい。だからこそ、悟りを開くのに無想の境地を求める。 しかし人形なら、最初から何も考えない動きが出来るのだ。 人形は悟っているのか？　無想の境地は人間を捨てることなのか？	It's difficult for humans to stop thinking entirely. That is why they seek a state of empty mind, to open the doors to enlightenment. But beings like dolls are capable of moving by themselves even without any thought. Does that mean that dolls have achieved enlightenment? Does that state-beyond-thinking escape humans?
	その答えは、非想天則を見た者には全て判っていた。 長く生きた妖怪にとってそこから学ぶ物は、確かにあったのだ。	Everyone who came to see the Hisou Tensoku understood the answer right away. All the long-lived youkai knew right away, that that was truly the case.

Ending 2 - Cirno

	――幻想郷の東の境界。博麗神社。	---The Hakurei Shrine, at the eastern border of Gensokyo.
	いつもは蝉がうるさい神社に、蝉より騒がしい何かが居る。 それは何やら話の中心に居るようだった。	In a shrine always full of noisy cicadas, an even noisier creature has arrived. And right now, she is right in the middle of telling her story.
Reimu	で？　だいだらぼっちがどうしたの？	And? What about this "giant"?
Cirno	だいだらぼっちはおっきな妖怪だったんだ！	It's a really big youkai!
Reimu	そりゃね	I see.
Cirno	えーっと。その妖怪はどうやら人形みたいで……	Uhmmm... And this youkai looked a little like a puppet, and...
Marisa	ふーん	Marisa: Hmph.
Cirno	とにかくおっきくて自由に動くの！ あんなのが暴れたら幻想郷の危機よ！	And anyway, it could move all by itself! If it attacked, all of Gensokyo could be in trouble!
Reimu	大きな人形って……。 もしかして、これじゃない？	A giant doll, huh... By any chance, is this what you mean?
Reimu	非想天則――巨大妖怪型自動操作人形	Hisou Tensoku: The Giant Youkai-Style Autonomous Doll.
Cirno	ひそうてんそく？	Hisou Tensoku?
Reimu	河童が作った大きな人形よ	It's a big doll the kappa made.
Cirno	かっぱー？	The kappa...?
Reimu	これなら、みんな見てるわよ。 今、山の麓に行けば見られるわ	By now, I'm sure everyone's seen it. If you go to the base of the mountain, you can see it, too.
Cirno	なんだー。みんな見ていたのかー。 つまんない	What? *Everyone's* seen it? But that's boring!
Cirno	ひそうてんそく……。 んー？	Hisou Tensoku... Huh?
Reimu	動きは凄くリアルよ。 なんでも蒸気で動く仕掛けらしいわ	It really does move by itself. I heard it uses steam somehow.
Cirno	何……これ？	What... you mean this thing?
Reimu	あんたがだいだらぼっちと勘違いしたもの、でしょう？	This is what you thought was your "legendary giant," right?
Cirno	んー？　こんなのだったかなぁ	Hmmm? Was it this thing...?
Reimu	何にしても、ただのでくの坊だから、恐れる必要はないわ	It's really just a giant wooden doll, you know. There's nothing to be afraid of.
Cirno	んー？ いや、こんな形じゃなかったよ！ 絶対違うよ！	Huh? No, this doesn't look like it at all! It's totally different!
Reimu	え？	Huh?
Cirno	もっとリアルな人形でー、 もっと攻撃をしかけそうな感じでー。 とにかく、全然違うよ。違うんだよ！	The giant looked more like a puppet, and... And it's really violent, and looks like it's gonna attack, and... Well, it was totally different! Really really different!
Reimu	へー。 その話、ちょっと詳しく教えてくれる？	Really? Could you tell me more about what you saw, then?
	チルノは必死に思い出して詳細を伝えた。	Cirno desperately explained every detail she could remember.
	だいだらぼっちを追って間欠泉地下センターまで行った事。	She explained how she followed the giant to the Underground Geyser Center.
	そこで暑さから逃げてきた事。 そして、森に大きな妖怪を見た事。	How, after that, she ran away from the heat. And then, finally, how she saw a giant youkai in the forest.
	しかし、チルノの話には一番重要な要素が抜けていたのだ。	But Cirno left out the most important detail.
	出会った人間、妖怪の顔を覚えていなかったのである。	She could not remember the youkai or human she had run into.
	つまり、誰と出会ったのか、が抜けていたのだ。	So she simply left that part out of her story entirely.
	それにより、チルノの話は一種の都市伝説と化した。	And so Cirno’s story turned into a kind of urban legend.
	プロットだけ出来ているのに重要な要素が欠けていた為、	And because the plot of her story was missing the most important detail,
	話は伝わる度に変化し、いつしか立派な怪談となった。	the story changed every time it was told, and it soon became an incredible ghost story.
	真夏の巨大妖怪伝説、そう呼ばれるようになっていた。	It became known as the “Legend of the Giant Midsummer Youkai.”
	その話がアリスの耳に入った時には既に、自分が研究している 「人形巨大化計画」の事だと思えない程変化していた。	And by the time that Alice heard it, it had changed so much that she could not even recognize her own “Puppet Enlargement Project.”
	アリスは確信した。 早く人形の巨大化の魔法を自分の物にして、 未知の巨大妖怪と戦わねばならない、と。	Alice was convinced. And so she worked hard to perfect her Puppet Enlargement Magic, absolutely sure that she would have to fight this unknown giant youkai.

Ending 3 - Meiling

	――紅魔館の地下にある図書館。 地下は夏涼しく、冬暖かいと快適であった。 また、日光が当ることもなく本の保存には最適である。	---The library beneath the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Here it is cool in the summer, warm in the winter, and always comfortable. Here, where the sunlight never reaches, the books are perfectly preserved.
Meiling	……地震など起こさせない。 これで幻想郷は守られたんだ！	... I won't let you cause an earthquake. I have to protect Gensokyo!
Patchy	で？ いつまで寝てるの？　この馬鹿	What? How long has this idiot been sleeping?
Sakuya	私が気付いたときには既にお外で寝ていたので、 もしかしたら何か敵の攻撃でも受けたのかと	When I found her, she was already asleep outside. Perhaps she was attacked by someone?
Patchy	ふーん。 あんまり外に置いておいたから熱射病か何かかな	Hmph. If she was left outside, then she probably just has a heatstroke or something.
Sakuya	では冷えた濡れタオルでも持ってきましょうか？	Then should I fetch a cool, damp towel for her?
Patchy	要らないよそんなもん。こいつも妖怪だし	That won't be necessary. She's a youkai.
Meiling	……なんだと？ お前が真の大ボスか？　太歳星君だというのか！	... What's this? This is the real final boss? Taisuei-Shengjun!
Sakuya	太歳星君って何なのでしょう？	Who or what is Taisuei-Shengjun?
Patchy	太歳星君……？ うーん。さっきも誰かからその言葉を聞いたような	Taisuei-Shengjun...? Hm. I feel like I've heard someone mention that before.
Meiling	いいだろう。受けて立とう！ もう私しか戦える人が居ないんだ	Fine! I will stand against you! I am the only one left who can fight!
Patchy	ああ、そう言えばこいつから聞いたんだった。 外で太歳星君を見たとかなんとか	Ahh, now that I think about it, she mentioned that name before. She said she had seen Taisuei-Shengjun outside or something.
Sakuya	もしかして、そいつの攻撃を受けて 目覚めないのだとか……	Then perhaps she *was* attacked outside, and was knocked out?
Patchy	ふん。どうだかね。 余りに気張りすぎて疲れて寝ちゃったんじゃない？ それに、仕事場にこんなものが落ちてたし	Hmph. I wonder. Perhaps she simply over exerted herself and passed out. In any case, someone dropped this over by her gate.
Sakuya	ああ、天狗の活劇漫画ですか？	Oh, is that one of the tengu's action manga?
Patchy	これは悪の妖怪が、幻想郷の身近な人間に姿を変えて 次々と襲ってくるという薄っぺらい内容なんだ	In this, an evil youkai comes to Gensokyo and takes on the form of familiar humans, who attack one by one. It's a shallow, stupid story.
Meiling	くそ！ 強すぎるー	Damn! H-he's too strong!
Patchy	どうせ、これ見て敵と戦う夢で盛り上がってるんでしょ	I believe she read this and is now dreaming the same story.
Sakuya	ふーん。良いですね、夢があって。 ところで、天狗と言えば…… 新聞で河童のバザーの話聞きました？	Hmmm... I suppose everything must be all right, if she's just dreaming. But speaking of the tengu... Did you read about the kappa's bazaar? It's in the paper.
Patchy	見た見た。 非想天則とかいう巨大人形が話題だって	I did. There was something about a giant doll called the Hisou Tensoku.
Sakuya	それをお嬢様と見てこようかと思ってるのですが パチュリー様もどうですか？	I was thinking of taking the mistress to see it. Did you want to come, too, Lady Patchouli?
Patchy	勿論、行くつもりよ。 貴重な品が他の人の手に渡る前に行かないと	Of course. I was intending on going. I must go and hand over something very important to someone, anyway.
Sakuya	では留守番をどうにかしないと……	Then I suppose we'll have to leave the mansion unattended for a while...
	美鈴は叩き起こされ、大変恥ずかしい思いをした。	When Meiling finally woke, she was extremely embarrassed.
	そしていつも通り留守番を任されると 暇つぶしに活劇漫画を読む事にした。	She was supposed to have been watching the mansion, like always, but instead she had wasted her time reading a manga.
	結局、夢の中では太歳星君に勝つ前に起こされてしまったが、	In the end, something terrible had happened in her dream before she was able to defeat Taisuei-Shengjun.
	美鈴の中で少し不安に思う事があった。	Meiling was left feeling a little uneasy.
	太歳星君らしき物を見たのは確かなのだ。それは夢ではない。	She knew she really had seen something like Taisuei-Shengjun. And that was not when she was dreaming.
	夢の中でも勝てなかった最凶最悪の妖怪。 強制的に戦線離脱させられた美鈴は、その夢の中での姿が 思い出せないでいた。	The youkai of all evil, all wickedness, who she had not even been able to defeat in her dreams. Meiling had ultimately been forced to retreat, and now she could not remember what form he had taken in her dream.
	いつか、そんな恐怖の敵が現れるのだろうか。 現れたとき、幻想郷の妖怪が一団となって戦えるのだろうか。 私はみんなの為に最前線で戦える、と、美鈴はそう再確認した。	What if a creature that terrible appeared one day? Would all of the youkai of Gensokyo be able to team up to defeat it? Meiling, at least, was sure one of thing: "I would fight on the front lines to protect everyone."
