A businessman from Taiwan, who
was kidnapped in China by a
team of Chinese and Taiwanese
gangsters, has been freed.
Taiwan and China co-operated
to free the man, who was
kidnapped in Guangzhou in
January and held for ransom.
Prosecutors in Kaohsiung say
the businessman was rescued by
coast guards on an uninhabited
Taiwanese island yesterday.
Two Taiwanese were arrested.
Chinese police were alerted to
the case after the victim's
family complained that the man
had not been released despite
their wiring ransom money to a
Hong Kong bank. |
