How many dogs are killed in Australia for a year?

I'm writing an essey about animal welfare in Australia and I need information about pets welfare.
But I can't find the answer of title because English is not my first language as you can see

If you know a answer of my question or some usefull web sites, please tell me.

    Most shelters don't reveal the statistic due to public backlash. Most people would blame the shelter for euthanise perfectly healthy animals, and not understand the reasoon to give the chance to another lot of animal in desperate need of a home.

    You could enquire by ringing the individual shelters throughout australia saying you need the euthaniser figure for a school project

    In Australia, about 200,000 dogs are "euthanized" EACH year.
