Fiji two rescued from sexual slaverySaturday, September 12, 2009
Two Fiji women were rescued from sexual slavery in a massage parlor by Canadian Police. They allege the two women and another from China, were lured to Edmonton – West of Canada with the promise of jobs as masseuses, but ended up being kept under lock and key and forced into prostitution. Police arrested a man and a woman from the Sachi Professional Massagae and Spa on September 5, in connection to the rescue made. According to Edmonton police the alleged victims, who spoke almost no English, were terrified. They add the women's identy were taken from them by their captors, and the women were threatened that if they didn't do as they were told, their families would be told that they were prostitutes. They lived at the massage parlour, and were expected to service clients 24 hours a day. They ate, drank and slept in the room they worked in.
