The primary goal of this Project is to produce an open-source implementation of the next major revision of the Java SE Platform.

Status: Replan nearly complete; high-level dates set
We are replanning JDK 7 according to the "Plan B" proposal with the goal of accelerating its release as much as possible while also maintaining high quality. In order to achieve this, features that need more time to mature have been deferred to JDK 8 or later releases as explained here. A handful of small, high-impact features which were not previously part of the plan but are finished have been added to the release.
The feature list has been updated and at this point is not expected to change. The milestone schedule will be updated soon, but in the meantime here is the high-level schedule for the remainder of the release:
