'The Today Show' got some impromptu holiday cheer from one charismatic little boy this morning.
Live from their home in Carthage, Texas, the Roberts family's segment about a letter the daughter wrote to help get her family Christmas decorations, after the loss of their father in Afghanistan left them without the will to celebrate much turned into something else.
Little Keegan Roberts, clearly excited about the TV cameras, stole the show with his enviable dance moves!
Watch below as one little boy adds some hope and hilarity to a rather somber subject.
We're pretty sure Keegan's dad Casey, described as, "a kid at heart," would get a good laugh about his own little boy bringing morning merriment to national television!
During the segment, Meredith Vieira told mom Denise Roberts about her daughter's letter to Christmas Decor's program 'Decorated Family' requesting red, white and blue decorations for Christmas to honor her fallen father and help bring holiday cheer to her mother and brother.
A teary-eyed Denise read the letter on air: "What makes my family special is that we are a gold star family. My daddy gave his life for our country on May 7, 2008."
"She's amazing," Denise remarked of Kaylen.
Keegan's impromptu dance-session began when he and his mother and sister sat on the couch to reminisce about Casey Roberts. "Family was his everything," Denise explained. "He was a big kid at heart. He loved being right in there with the kids."
While Keegan continued boogieing, when Denise revealed what she wanted for Christmas. "I just want to see my kids smile. I think that sometimes we lose ourselves in the grief sometimes and it's hard to go on."
Then, Kaylen found out what the visit from 'The Today Show' was all about -- her letter. But that didn't phase her little brother.
The dancing only stopped when Vieira asked the three to go outside to see that Walmart had donated decorations and presents to the family for Christmas.
But the youngster proudly waved to the crowd gathered around their home when being gifted with the goodies -- which included laptops for his mom and Kaylen, fishing equipment for him, bikes, iPads, movies and more.
I saw the segment this morning when I was getting ready for work. I know the story was sad in regards to losing the father and husband. It was also very touching about the daughters letter but it was so cute to see the little boy have such a good time being on TV. Definitely cheered up my morning.
haha you can tell Meredith was fighting back the giggles. I'm glad that even though the subject of this video was really sad, that Keegan was able to bring us all smiles. What a nice and deserving family. God bless them!
all this was well worth it! i laughed so much i was crying what a nice family well deserved your husband and father is smiling from above Godbless you all Merry Christmas!
That was so bittersweet. I laughed and cried. The true meaning of Christmas and good will toward man. What a wonderful loving family. How sad that the people that are the best in the world tend to lose the most ......
I agree with you. The ones that don't need death to occur, nor need anything bad to happen...it seems it always happens to the good folks. Never the bad guys..the killers, robbers, abusers....always the good guys that want more out of life. I can't understand it how life is just that way. It is what it is. Nothing any of us can change about it. I'm happy for that little family. I hope they have a Merry Christmas!~
Yes, adorable...the mother is about 80 pounds overweight and the child is clearly subject to her poor nutritional habits and is overweight, as well. A lifetime of poor health, ailments, and burden to our healthcare system....how freaking adorable.
I truly do not understand all the unnecessary and cruel criticism of this family, the way they look or how much they weigh. You people who find it necessary to find fault in everything and everyone without even knowing who they are within, are miserable worthless excuses for humans. It's too bad that you cannot be happy for others or care about others, because you are so blinded by your stupidity!
Brandon, you must suck the life out of everything around you. What a terrible thing to think, much less, verbalize. I agree with almost all the other posts. Sad story, cute video, human-interest story. Think of the pain this family has gone through so someone like you has the right to speak the drivel you just did. Maybe you should go over there and make the ultimate sacrifice. Dillhole.
