Worlds most expensive beer made from Antarctic ice
Dubbed Antarctic Nail Ale, the beer first went on the auction block to raise money for the Sea Sheperd Conservation Society, an organization dedicated to protecting whales and other sealife around the globe. On November 3, a single bottle sold for an amazing $800 AUD (roughly $780), setting the new record for the worlds most expensive beer in the process. That auction was just the warm-up however, as another bottle went up for sale on November 19, smashing the new record. That second bottle sold for a whopping $1850 AUD ($1805)!
The beer was created by John Stallwood, the owner of Nail Brewing. Stallwood's brother-in-law is part of the crew on board a Sea Sheperd ship, and recently visited an iceberg floating in the waters off Antarctica. He collected some of the ice there and flew it back to Tasmania, where it was melted and then passed on to Stallwood to use in the beer.
I've had some expensive beer before, but $1850 for a single bottle? I'd have to nurse that one for a really long time.

The money paid was for charity so it doesn't count as a SALE.
Try putting it in a liquor store with a mere 50 dollar price and it will just sit there as the bud light flies off the shelves.

Disgusting! The Antarctic is melting away as is, and this fool company goes there with the intent to take away the precious snow and ice for $%&@ beer. They should be shot! I don't care if it was used for charity....you don't take something that is already endangered of dissappearing to make money for another charity. That's like killing a tiger to use the fur to raise money to help AIDS victims........you're not making anything better.

So if we create a commercial use for the polar ice we can start harvesting it and help speed up the melting effect. nice! Yet another way for wealthy individuals to affect the whole world with their wallets.

The Antarctic is melting away??? (Joke!) This fool company goes there with the intent to take away the precious snow and ice for $%&@ beer. They should be shot! PS...I think the Antartica can afford to loan a few bottles for a good cause...damn dumb ass! Hopefully, you're kidding, and not serious.

Sounds interesting, but I doubt there is going to be any ice farmers anytime soon. People are always looking for new ways to make their brew, the antarctic ice is a neat concept. $1850.00 is nothing compared to what the cost of some wine and spirits go for.
I would love to see some recipes here that homebrewers use, the special ingredients that make their beer taste good.
Have a nice day everyone. :)

Perhaps it will have some kind of circular affect. By using the ice it brings more awareness to whales and other marine life that may depend on the Arctic seawaters. The money made from the bottles will definitely help any research. Research is always low on funds.
Its likely those who were bidding on it knew where their money was going to go to. Humans after all enjoy rewards and exchange items. Its not likely beer from Arctic ice will become commercialized. The person who took the ice was on the conservation ship. Doubt he was thinking about being malicious.
