On the other hand, given the amount of buzz that the movie -- directed by and co-starring Jodie Foster -- has been generating, it could be exactly what Gibson needs to resurrect his career. The film is scheduled for a Spring 2011 release.
And now the first official trailer for 'The Beaver' has turned up online.
Gibson's character is depicted brooding his way through some kind of existential funk that seriously strains the emotional health of his family. Things only worsen when he happens upon a ratty plush toy in the garbage and gives it a voice. Soon his idiosyncracy becomes his only way of expressing himself to loved ones. Given how much we've all heard the Oscar-winning 'Braveheart' star expressing himself regarding family matters, it's a bizarre string of scene snippets, to say the least. Watch the full trailer here:

Well it's clear Mel has a beaver but what about Jodie?

Mel Gibson's biggest problem is trying to fit in with the liberal hypocrites of Hollywood. Once he gets out of California, he'll be fine.
I love this , So does My boyfriend .he is almost 11year older than me .i met him via age'lessmate.c'om a nice place for seeking age le ss love.which gives you a chance to make your life better and open opportunities for you to meet the attractive young girls and treat you like a king. Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends..
The strange thing about this movie isn`t Mel Gibson...it`s watching Jodie Foster try and be "Straight"....and pretend to like men.

Yes, Mel has had it rough, but alot of celebs have made errors and have been forgiven, (i.e. Rob Lowe, Robert DowneyJr and even dog the bounty hunter)..so why cant Mel be given another chance, Hell He didnt kill anyone and Im not so sure that russian girl didnt "set him up". He fun to watch in movies and I for one will watch the "Beaver" because he is in it.

I'll never forgive him for the drunken anti-semetic, misogynistic rant he had at the Mailbu cop. That was unforgivable.
I AGREE 100% IM GONNA GO SEE IT JUST BECAUSE MEL IS IN IT... YEAH HES AN AZZ BUT SHE SET HIM UP AND AIRED THEIR DIRTY LAUNDRY FOR HER OWN GREED, AND WANTED FAME, OR ATTENTION..WITH THE MONEY. WEIRD THAT SHE TAPED THOSE CONVERSATIONS.
IM GONNA SEE IT AND I DONT EVER SIT AND WATCH MOVIES ANYMORE .. GO MEL!
I like all movies made by Mel Gibson and i will watch this one too...

Kudos to Jodie Foster for giving him a chance. Shame on Gibson for thinking the world will forget bigotry, hate and abuse because he gets a role in a "wacky" touchy-feely movie. I hope no one goes to see it, maybe if he could find a way to model his own life after the slick he could have a chance, but looks like his "spots" are pretty permanent to me!

Thanks Jodie, lots of people will see this flick because of you, and remember what a great actor Mel can be while doing it!
