The 42-year-old former boxing champion and cover of a 1996 "Sports Illustrated" reportedly was able to escape from her home after the attack and wave down a passing motorist. After she was rushed to the hospital, she managed to tell police that the attacker was her husband, James Martin, according to the TMZ report.
The report goes on to state that James Martin is still at large and they are currently "on the hunt" for the suspected attacker.
Don King, Martin's former promoter told TMZ, "I am shocked and saddened to see this happen to Christy. I send my prayers and well wishes."

The minute I read the headline I hoped it wasn't domestic violence. It appears it is. I am sorry for the pain and suffering this woman is enduring. She has dedicated herself to her sport and her gym. I'm aware of no negative publicity regarding her. Shame on the snide comments of the ignorant posters, thinking they are somehow humorous while this woman lies in a hospital bed during the Thanksgiving Holidays...I wish her a speedy recovery.
