But Suh says he's sorry anyway. And he approached Barber during the game to say so.
"I went up to him to apologize because I'm not a dirty player," Suh told the Detroit News. "He said, 'No worries. It's the name of the game.'"
That is a nice gesture from Suh, who can deliver vicious hits on the field but acts like a gentleman off it. But the truth is, Suh did absolutely nothing wrong when he pulled down Barber by his hair. NFL rules are clear that defensive players are allowed to tackle ball carriers by their hair, and if a running back like Barber chooses to have his hair flowing out of his helmet, it's his problem if he gets tackled by it.
In fact, if anyone is owed an apology, it's Suh, who was wrongly flagged for a horsecollar tackle on the play. The penalty moved the Cowboys from third down at the 11-yard line to first-and-goal at the 5-yard line, and was costly for the Lions -- Dallas wound up scoring a touchdown to take a nine-point lead.
"I mean his hair is long enough to go probably midway through his back, which is covering up his collar," Suh said. "If you go back on the replay, I just tugged it and then jumped on his back."
Nothing dirty about that.
Suh didn't have to apologize.

If the players want to wear their hair long, then they should be required to tuck it down their uniform. It looks ridiculous flapping down their back, covering up their names and number.
so the ZEBRA once again helps change the outcome of an NFL game.... lol...so predictable
Waah! Waah! Get a haircut!
I would hope in the same situation again the Suh would do the same thing. These guys choose to have this long hair hanging out and therefore it becomes fair game. Tacklers have enough restrictions to worry about pulling someones hair. It is nice to see some class for a change, with Suh apologizing even when he did not need to. And cooley65, I have not seen where Barber was complaining, whats up with the Waah!Waah! Bullcrap. He realizes the risk too. Looking at the photo used in this article, maybe Suh should apologize for the facemask instead. LMAO!
New rule, hair must be no longer than the top of the name on the back of the jersey. End of problem. I've seem mangy dogs that look better than some of these highly paid players.
May as well say, no touching guys, this is flag football.
He needs to cut it or get it in his helmet...Suh has nothing to apologize for...and I'm a Cowboy fan.
These players hair looks like crap...I guess they're trying to act like women with the long hair. I'm surprised more players don't get their long hair grabbed. I think the tacklers are scarred to grab it ?
If a player wears his hair long, then it's perfectly OK to grab it and bring him down. It looks like crap and the NFL should have rules against it. Same thing with MLB. And, it's gotta smell something awful.
The hair is fair game if they wear it that long. Is the picture in the article of the tackle? If it is, Suh did have hold of the facemask. Just saying.
The flag should of been on the facemask before he pulled Barber's hair. Props to Suh for the apology, you don't see that in sports anymore.
No harm no foul...Barber needs a Barber........
How are people still complaining about this? Not only are his hands grabbing the collar of his pads, but he is QUITE CLEARLY holding Barber's facemask as well! Michael Smith, you're a joke, but don't worry, no need to apologize.
THIS IS FOOTBALL OK?NO HAIR SHOULDBE THAT LONG PLAYING FOOTBALL. ITS A MIRACLE NOBODY DIDNT IP HIS HAIR OFF HIS HEAD BY NOW . HE SHOULDNT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY LIKE THAT PERIOD AND I LIKE BARBER ,HES A HELLAVA PLAYER. TOUGH RUNNING BACK. WOJ

If Vince Lombardi were alive today, and I think he is... None of his players would have hair like that! If they are going to wear girlie hair expect it to get caught, pulled or whatever you what to call it! Don't be sorry, PLAY FOOTBALL! If they don't like it play tiddley-winks.
If a ball carrier is going to have their hair sticking out like a big handle, then I say rip them down by it. In this day and age of all players taping down everything they wear in order to avoid being slowed down I look at that kind of hair on gameday as arrogant, foolish, and an invitation to pull it right out.
How can they justify not calling a penalty for using the hair to tackle when they do call one for grabbing the the collar in back to tackle? Seems it would be a lot more dangerous to pull the head back by the hair than pulling his jersyfrom the back.
