Video: Italy stars in live-action Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit vid
Electronic Arts isn't pulling any punches in the run-up to the release of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. The studio sent two of the world's most lust-worthy Italilan exotics to go frolic through the countryside in a live-action interpretation of the game's premise. The video stars one wayward Pagani Zonda Cinque on the run from a very stubborn Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 and its accompanying air support. The whole tale is set to La Roux's "Not Your Toy" remixed by the ever crafty Nero. It's as fitting a soundtrack as we could imagine.
The video is, of course, dripping with high-horsepower slides and vaporized rear tires at the hands of legendary stunt drivers Marc Hennerici and Marc Basseng. Sound appetizing? Hit the jump to sink your teeth into the jaw-dropping spot.

Yes it was -- but hey Autoblog, NFS Hot Pursuit came out last Tuesday. It's not exactly a "run-up" to the release.

@John H: It still hasn't been released on Steam, so this is still a "run up" for some of us.

That was fun?
That was EPIC!

Hehehe... it reminds me of old memories... back in '98, the first full game I've played was NFS 3 Hot Pursuit. Then NFS 4 High Stakes.... then played NFS5/6 but the first ones were the golden era... hehe what great memories, what times... a world of freedom where you would unleash the speed hungry and madness from within you :)

Forgot to say : there was classic-race (no cops) modes, but the most fun was to be with or against cop cars in pursuit modes, that made some hell of desperate "races", very fun with those police talking over radio and even some traffic. I'm curious how this new game it is. In fact in recent moments I thought about buying a whell for PC, to try those games again and not only.

Agreed, there are some great advertisements out for this game; if you want a laugh google/Youtube Need For Speed - Valets (hint: Turtle & Johnny Drama from Entourage + loads of nice cars = win).
The game's fun too!

If you liked NFS III and IV you'll like this one -- it's loads of fun, complete with cop radio chatter, frantic races in pursuit mode, and now power-ups that actually do make the game more fun than easy.
I started playing NFS back in the days of NFS 2 -- I remember how my mind was blown at the quality of the graphics running on a Pentium 166 MHz machine, even before 3D cards. NFS III and IV were some of my favorites as well (particularly because NFS IV included all of the tracks and modes from NFS III, so it was more of a superset than a replacement). I never got into Porsche Unleashed because there were no cops, and then I liked the Underground games, especially the second because it had a free-roam world. Now I'm splitting my time between this Hot Pursuit and NFS Shift, the former for balls-out crazy driving and the latter to hone my track abilities in real life without burning through actual tires and brake pads quite as quickly. :)

Pretty awesome. Helicopter looked fake though.
I get a feeling this wouldn't work in real life though. What's the cop going to do? Crash his extremely expensive Lambo straight into the Pagani?

Well that's why it's a game.
And a pretty damn good one at that. I've found a few bugs and a few design decisions I don't like but nothing game breaking.

sick! balls of steel to drift a pagani up a ridge though! wow!

The car is the least thing to worry when you play chicken.

Heh, I really like the trailer, too bad the game is somewhat horrible.

"somewhat horrible"? What have you been smoking?
trikat 9:40PM (11/22/2010)
Well I found the steering to be far worse than the previous NFS games.
There is no story or barely any storyline.
I do like the cops vs. racer concept, but it is a boring as a platform game (tons of repetition). I got bored of the game quite quickly. There is basically only three modes... Cop vs. many suspects, cop vs. a suspect, cop responds to a call. Of course there is the suspect side, but there is no depth... I was expecting more and did not get it.
Anyways I was very much looking forward to play another NFS game, but in my opinion they really did not put effort into this one. When I look back at the previous NFS games this one pales in comparison.

I would agree. The steering is horrible, mainly due to the fact the Criterion, the maker of the "Burnout" series, took over the duties of NFS.
In "Burnout" you're bouncing off of everything anyways, so steering doesn't matter, but in the NFS series, I would like to stay on the road.

Did you play NFS:HP2 or 1? These are arcade style fun race games. There isn't meant to be much of a story its all about the racing and the thrill of the chase. This is classic NFS returned.

Honestly I forgot how hot pursuit panned out back in the day, but I think I remember underground (semi circuits). Then there was the insanely fun free roam. Loved having a horde of cops/helicopters chasing you. After that it was touge and circuits.
O well bottom line is I was expecting more and did not get it.
For such a simple game $60 / $50 msrp is way too much. I got mine for $35 on the PC and still didn't bother to finish the game. Maybe the PC version is just terrible since it is another typical console port.

Best NFS game since 3. These games werent originally sims, theyre fun arcade style car porn for people who love cars. You want a sim get a GTx game.
Clavius 12:09AM (11/23/2010)
The game was great. I think you just expected to much out of it. This was NFS returning to the PS2 version if you will of Hot Pursuit. More arcade rather than sim. Citerion did Burn Out so if you played that game you should of had a idea of what it would play like. I'm loving it and enjoying the game. The online is great so far since there are no upgrade portions in this game so the cars are for the most part equal. Takes skills to win the race not the most powerful car.
On a side note that video was drool worthy yummy.. gonna go replay it to hear those engines roar!
