(Nov. 23) -- Ten people have been arrested in an anti-terror sweep of three European countries, authorities said today.

Federal prosecutors in Belgium said some of those arrested were suspected of planning an attack in that country. Others were suspected of helping recruit followers for an alleged Chechen terror organization. The arrests occurred in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.

"Long months of undercover investigation" led to the arrests, Belgian authorities said, according to CNN.

The arrests were not linked to recent warnings of terrorist attacks in Germany, said Judith Sluiter, a spokeswoman for the Dutch National Coordinator for Counterterrorism, The Associated Press reported.

Ten homes were raided early today. The unidentified suspects were Belgian, Dutch, Moroccan and Chechen.

Some were active on the Islamist website Ansar al Mujahideen, Reuters reported. Others were allegedly connected to the Chechen militant organization Caucasus Emirate.

The location of the planned attack in Belgium was not known, authorities said.
