Dunhill-Namiki Pens To Highlight Bonhams Rare Pen Auction

Come August 19, a selection of rare pens will be auctioned by Bonhams in New York. Some delicate and beautiful instruments from Dunhill-Namiki will highlight this auction, especially the Dunhill-Namiki Lake Biwa maki-e fountain pen.

Created in 1930 through collaboration between Dunhill and Namiki, the Dunhill-Namiki Lake Biwa maki-e fountain pen was crafted using the finest Japanese lacquer techniques. The pen is expected to generate nothing less than $15,000-30,000.

Other state-of-the-art pens from this collection include Dunhill-Namiki Motorities Maki-e limited edition fountain pen. Carrying an estimate of $20,000-30,000, this pen boasts of a detailing in gold dust and Raden Pearl. Also, the design’s wheels and flames honors Dunhill’s early 1900s ‘Dunhill Motorities’ automobile accessories.

Also on sale is the third Krone Pink Stingray from limited edition of eight. Crafted out of original pink stingray cap and pink diamonds this sterling silver pen is estimated at $8,000-10,000.

The sale also will include rare, limited editions pens by Montblanc and Loiminchay. Estimated to fetch $18,000-24,000, a Montblanc Magical Black Widow skeleton limited edition in a black lacquered presentation box along with all original packaging and papers is hoped to fetch a lot of bids. A Montblanc 4th of July limited edition pen; Montblanc Teatro alla Scala limited edition fountain pen, among others are also highly anticipated.
