The Indianapolis Colts' difficult injury situation appears to be getting worse, with the news that tight end Dallas Clark may be out indefinitely.
Clark, a 2009 Pro Bowl selection, could be out for an extended period of time with a hand/wrist injury, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, who tweeted early Wednesday evening that Clark "plans to go for second and third opinions to determine how long he'll miss."
Clark appeared to sustain the injury near the end of the Colts' victory over the Washington Redskins this past Sunday.
Colts coach Jim Caldwell said earlier in the day Clark was being "evaluated."
A long-term injury to Clark would be a serious blow to the NFL's second-ranked offense.
The Colts on Tuesday re-signed tight end Gijon Robinson, and aside from Clark, the Colts also have tight end Jacob Tamme and Brody Eldridge on the roster. Robinson spent 2008 and 2009 as the team's starting H-back, a role Eldridge has played this season.
Clark's role as the receiving tight end likely would be filled in part by Tamme, a third-year tight end, who has shown good hands and an ability to get open downfield in limited action on offense. Tamme has also emerged as one of the Colts' top special teams players.
The Colts, this past week against Washington, had several players out with injuries, including cornerback Jacob Lacey (foot), safety Bob Sanders (biceps), wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) and running back Donald Brown (hamstring).
Starting running back Joseph Addai left the Washington game with a shoulder injury.

Go Colts! See ya in Week 8!
good player get well soon
Colts are going back to the Super Bowl.
PEYTON WILL JUST TURN ONE OF THE BACK-UPS INTO A PRO-BOWLER....BELIEVE ME CLARK WOULD JUST A BETTER THAN AVERAGE PLAYER WITH ANOTHER QB
peyton will just turn his back-up into a pro-bowler.......clark is just slightly better than an average player who benefits from having manning
Boo. Definitely not good news this morning.
Ugh. Not what I wanted to hear this morning....But- I have faith! GO COLTS!!!!!!!!
Sorry to hear about Clark, but believe me, as tough as he is he will be back sooner than later. As for Aglew, Clark would be a star on any team at any level, of course it helps that Peyton is the QB, but Clark is a virtual Pro Bowler where ever he plays.
