Police: Missing 3-Year-Old Found Safe in Drunken Dad's Car
Updated: 5 hours 22 minutes ago
(Oct. 18) -- Police in California say a missing 3-year-old whose disappearance triggered an Amber Alert has been found safe and sound in his father's car.
A good Samaritan found Dylan Kurihara asleep in his car seat Sunday morning in Pasadena, hours after the boy was reported missing by his mother. The car was left in a parking structure.
"The great news here is that he was in his car seat. He was asleep at the time we found him. He's in good shape," Pasadena Police Chief Phillip Sanchez told reporters Sunday evening, according to CNN.
Kurihara's father, Joe Kurihara, allegedly lost the toddler after getting drunk at a wedding Saturday night. Police said the father was arrested Saturday night on a charge of public drunkenness and was so intoxicated that he didn't remember having his son with him.
The Amber Alert sent about 50 police officers and volunteers combing the streets for the little boy, KABC-TV reported in Los Angeles. Police said they may file additional charges against the boy's father.
"We're looking at all possible charges that will be associated with this particular incident," Sanchez said. Kurihara could not be located for comment today.
