How in the hell do I complete this mission. I can't get through without all of the bombers being shot down

If I could get to it I would let you know. What do the camps look like in Desert Recon. I figured they'd stand out from everything else. I was practically skimming the ground and never saw anything. Plus I circled at the spots when the radio chattered about seeing my plane. I've even tried restarting the game. Still nothing. HELP!

Just keep circling. When you get close your camera HUD will pop up. When the chatter gets fuzzy you are too far away.

I have no idea how to do it either Jermo. Here's what I've tried so far:

1. Press the A button to get objective targets... still nothing all the bombers were shot down.
2. Take out the anti air guns (the 5 positions)... nope, didn't work either.
3. Take out as much of the planes on the ground I could and then the ones that did get into the air... nada, bombers were torn to shreds by the AA guns.
4. Send Frank into to kill the planes that got off the ground while I took out the ones on the ground. I got a little better results doing this but end in the end the AA guns again took care of the bombers.
5. Tell the squadron to go free for all and shot what they can. Again nothing.
6. Take out the AA guns, the control tower, shoot down 4-5 planes on the bombers, come back around and take the mobile AA guns out. This is the furthest I got. But still the bombers it seems as soon as they go in for the attack on the Japanese air base they suddenly drop out of the sky.

The only thing I can think of is quickly take out the 5 main AA guns, take out the buildings (seems the AA mobile guns come from there) and try to cover the bombers at the same time. Joe said to hit the airstrip to put craters in it so they can't launch, but I would unload all my rockets and it wouldn't dent the airstrip. Then I tried to shot the planes as they were trying to take off thinking they would blow up and block the airstrip in front of the other planes that would try to take off after them. But they just disappeared.

It's the second to the last mission so yeah I guess it should be somewhat hard in that you are to take out a major Japanese airbase but this seems impossible.

Yeah, this is the hardest mission yet. I am still getting my ass whipped.

Got my first wave NEARLY through, then a pesky fighter somehow got off the ground and I was distracted with the others that it just turned into a massacre.

this mission took the most time to finish, but it is possible, i found that this works the best. as you fly towards the air base:
1.) give squadron "attack" order
2.) tell Frank to attack
3.) fly in and attack the first AA guns (squadron should take out 1 or 2)
4.) in the same fly by take down the control tower
5.) fly around and try to take out some of the grounded aircraft
6.) fly towards the bombers and take out the aircraft who are trying to attack the bombers


*i did it this way and i was finally able to beat this objective. just make sure you kill as many planes as you can as they shoot down most of the bombers, as well as the AA guns.

try this out it should help. hit me up if you need anymore help. i just finally beat the game yesterday!

I pasted it finally. What I did was knock out some of the planes going into the air, turn around take out as much of the buildings as I could, come back around take out the AA guns, then finish off the planes in the air. After that first base the rest of the objectives you'll get are pretty easy.

it's one of those missions you have to keep trying and trying, (and dying and dying) until you get it.

I figuerd out how to do the mission last night,even tried 2 more times after i did it,and it worked all three times.all i did was focused on the aircraft sitting by the runway.then i just focused on the aircraft in the air.i didn't even bother with the anti air guns,the bombers seem to take care of them.even though as i was straffing the planes on the ground i would shoot a few anti air guns.also make sure you destroy the tower located by the runway.Just focus on the aircraft and you will beat the mission.was so happy when i figuerd it out because i played this mission atleast 50 times.now i can beat no problem.

thats funny you say that because i had problems with this mission as well, and i finally beat it, the exact opposite way you did, i set the squad to attack, sent frank off, destroyed almost all the ground weapons...only destroyed two planes on the ground, one in each lane, then started dog fighting....passed it first try, not gunna even tempt fate a second time...heh

Worked first try for me.

1. Set Squad to Attack

2. Send Frank

3. Killed the second AA gun at the front of field(Squad kills other)

4. Strafed the parked planes, going extremely slow . Kill almost all.

5. In the same pass, destroyed the tower.

6 Doogfight untill all enemy planes destroyed.

7. Finished off AA, Mobile AA and hangars(After your bombers leave)

The rest of the mission is easy.



Non Berlin is killing me, played 32 times and still can't beat.

BTW I have computer version, don't know if there is any difference in AI between 360 and computer.

No difference, it's the same game.

But how the f..k is hard Rabaul Raid?! I'm frustrated.

And i don't want to think to what i will finally do in Berlin...

Don't know what to tell ya. Berlin is much harder. When you beat rabul, get ready for a long mission.

Lawd have mercy.....i'm still stuck on Pearl Harbor (7 hours of attempts) and still can't shoot enough zero's to save the base. I sure appreciate the tips on Rabaul, tho I may never get there.

The most frustrating part is not being able to save and restart where you are at, BANG, if you're dead they've bumped you back to the beginning...or, having made three steps (after many hours)and quit you have to start all over when you come back to the game.
