But we can't help noticing that George Clooney is taking certain world events very seriously. And rightfully so.
In an Op-Ed in today's Washington Post, Clooney and activist John Pendergast call a region in Sudan "about the size of Connecticut" a potential flashpoint for war. Explaining the strife about to boil over, the co-writers describe their "fact-finding mission" visiting with locals, including children (see photos here). Clooney believes U.S. diplomacy must ensure that a January election in Sudan won't spark a new wave of widespread violence in a diputed oil-rich region.
The Oscar winner, well-versed in the Darfur genocide tragedy as co-founder of Not on Our Watch, took to NBC's 'Today' show recently to discuss the crisis.
And his mission also took Clooney to D.C., where he met with President Obama last week "and found him in command of the facts and seized with the urgency of the moment." It's our government's chance to save lives, and avoid spending billions of tax dollars in "a humanitarian clean-up operation down the road," according to the editorial.

What clunky fails to mention is that it is the muslins who are intent on enslaving all of the non muslins. That has a familiar ring to it, doesn't it.

Wow, you are underinformed. Sean Penn has received two citations from the U.S. military for his selfless work in Haiti. George Clooney's work is saving lives in Darfur. What are you doing to help anyone? Nothing. You are nothing but a troll.
I for one am sick and tired of hearing of all these grandiose efforts to help SOME OTHER country. There are American children starving and American workers who need help thanks to the liberal crackpots and their hare-brain schemes, not the least of which is political correctness. Let's do something for America to protect our own. We will need it when these factions get to be a large enough piece of our population.

Wow, the CIA needs to follow Clooney's lead. Forget the leaders of the country, talk to the children. That Clooney, who'd of thunk him being an expert on intelligence. Sure is scary to think Obama is listening to somebody acting like they are an expert in counter intelligence!

If Clooney wants to help people or raise funds to do so, more power to him. Helping victims of hurricane Katrina, earthquakes, tsunamis by organizing a fundraiser fits with his place in the entertainment industry. I'm sure the President knows about the Sudan, but interfering in a third world country is playing with fire. A fundraiser isn't going to do it, and you can't just send in troops or aid and change the way the country is or what's going to happen. Not that we haven't tried in many places in the world, overtly or covertly, but mostly it seems to backfire later. You just can't change them into the USA. They are who they are, and those who want to join the modern world have probably already moved here.
