All videos are provided in two formats, and two sizes. All new videos are released as Windows Media format (WMV) and QuickTime (MOV) in 640x480 and 320x240 (from #A0751 onwards), Prior to that, the video size is 416x312 and 320x240 pixels. The oldest videos may be only available in 320x240 size, and the available formats are WMV and MPG. We are gradually upgrading all the archives so eventually all videos will be WMV and MOV in both sizes. You should choose the size which best suits your system, and your connection.

All Beautiful Agony videos are quite large files, and may not start playing immediately you click them. You have the option of either playing Agony on the spot, or downloading it to your hard drive. The delivery speed depends on your internet connection. If you have broadband (cable or ADSL), the videos should start to play within a few seconds of your selection, or download within a few minutes. If you have a dialup connection, expect to wait several minutes for the clip to start playing and it may not play through without interruption. Downloading a video over a dialup connection may take over an hour.

For dialup connections, choose the smaller files.

To play an Agony just click the face. If you prefer to save it, look for the link "right-click here to download" in the media window while the video is playing. There is also a shortcut to downloading a video without playing it first - use the "DL" link under each face. Right-click (or control-click for Mac users) on either of these links and choose the option "save target as" or "save link as" (the wording varies depending on your operating system). You will then be prompted to save the video on your hard drive.

If you prefer Firefox browser, or you have a MAC, we recommend the MOV format.

If you use Internet Explorer or Netscape, you are probably better off selecting the WMV format.

If your preference is for Quicktime but the file is not available in that format, you will be served the MPG version instead. Likewise, if we don't have the large size, we'll give you the medium size.

The 'VIEW' options let you filter which Agony videos appear in your browser window. You can mark an Agony video as Seen then choose to show only Unseen videos. Or you can mark your favourites, and show only those faces. Then when you want to see All the faces again, you can select that too.
