Langila Volcano 
Langila is one of the most active volcanoes on the island of New Britain. Langila volcano erupted on 11th July 2002.

Manam eruption, 20 May 2002, from Volcano World
On May 20th, a moderate-sized Strombolian eruption occurred. On the same day a pilot observed an ash plume that reached, at its maximum height, 9 kilometers at 0500 (local time). Also on the same day but at 09:45, an eruption cloud was visible on satellite imagery extending to the southwest. It was reported that a continous eruption was occurring until at least until 09:47.

Tavurvur eruption, 6 Sep 2000, from Volcano World
On 6 September, the stratovolcano Tavurvur erupted sending thick clouds of ash over the town of Rabual. Tavurvur began showing signs of increased activity last week, although volcanologists did not issue any alerts at that time. In 1994, a powerful explosive eruption forced the abandonment of Rabul. The New Britain Island trading port is surrounded by six volcanoes

Ulawun eruption, 26 Feb 2002, from Volcano World
Ulawun has erupted at least 21 times since 1700. Nearly all of the eruptions have been explosive with VEI of 2-3. None of the eruptions have caused fatalities but a few have caused damage.
