Michael Vick injuryThe conventional wisdom was that Michael Vick would miss at least another week with his rib injury, but Vick isn't ready to say he won't play Sunday when the Eagles host Atlanta, Vick's former team.

Vick threw on Wednesday for the first time since the injury. When the Eagles' beat writers asked him if it was safe to assume that he wouldn't play this week, Vick disagreed.

"I wouldn't say that," Vick told reporters. "It's just being able to deal with it and work out the kinks."

He did not practice on Wednesday, and appears to unlikely to practice this week, but Vick also said that he could play against the Falcons without practicing. Coach Andy Reid hasn't said what he thinks about such a possibility.

If the Eagles are looking for a reason to hold out Vick for another week, this news might give them reasons to wait: on the same day that Vick announced he might try to play, the Eagles said that left tackle Jason Peters will miss another week. The offensive line's pass protection has been a problem for Philadelphia all season, but King Dunlap, Peters' replacement, made the problem 10 times worse.

Dunlap was awful last week. He gave up three sacks against San Francisco, and it wasn't just any one problem. He struggled with bull rushes (two of the sacks came when defensive ends drove him back into Kevin Kolb) and speed rushes (the final sack came when Travis La Boy simply proved too quick for Dunlap). If Vick plays, Dunlap would not be on the blind side for the lefty quarterback, but the Eagles may still choose to stick with the healthy Kevin Kolb.
